A new version of a classic freeware gem

Yesterday the 3.5 version of Benoît Gaurant's A300-B4 panel (+SGA model + sounds) was published here at the Library:

http://library.avsim...CatID=fs2004pan

I used to fly it shortly after Simcheck's A300 was released, but I don't remember the FE panel was that complex if compared with the current version. And now it has a widescreen panel (enabled by default) :yahoo:

Here is a screenshot directly from the Library (mods, if I'm breaching any terms of use, please delete)

Benoît, if you are reading these lines, merci beaucoup pour publier cet avion.

Main rig: self built, AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D (with SMT off and CO -50 mV), 2x16 GB DDR4-3200 RAM, Nvidia RTX 5060Ti 16GB, 256 GB M.2 SSD (OS+apps) + 2x1 TB SATA III SSD (sims) + 1 TB 7200 rpm HDD (storage), ID-Cooling SE-224-XTS air cooler, Viewsonic VX2458-MHD 1920x1080@120-144 Hz (G-sync compatible), Windows 11. Running P3D v5.4 (with v4.5 scenery objects as an additional library, just in case), FSX-SE, MSFS2020, MSFS2024 and even FS9! Lossless Scaling for all my sims. What a godsend...

Mobile rig: ASUS Zenbook UM425QA (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H APU @3.2 GHz and boost disabled, 1 TB M.2 SSD, 16 GB RAM, Windows 11 Pro). Running FS9 there .

VKB Gladiator NXT Premium Left + GNX THQ as primary controllers. Xbox Series X|S wireless controller as standby/mobile.

Yes, I have noticed it too and even sentimentally downloaded it.

It is great that they included the widescreen version.

I used to love flying the previous version, but now I am an unconvertible VC pilot.

If only they remodelled the A300/A310 with a VC of these details, I would go mad! dizzy.gif

So if someone is still a 2D-paneler (I know at least three dinos here, lol), and did not yet try this stuff, do not wait!

SimCheck A300 is a gorgeous addon. The only one I flew a lot when (unsuccesfully) trying to become fond of FSX.

Pity there is no FS9 version of this addon. But I'm not complaining. There's so much to fly.

But that link to the library says it's for FS9 and Simcheck A300 is FSX only.

But that link to the library says it's for FS9 and Simcheck A300 is FSX only.

I never said the opposite. In fact, I started flying the SGA-Gaurant A300 because of the frustation of Simcheck's A300 being FSX only. However, monsieur Gaurant released also a FSX version, available here:

Am I the third or fourth dinosaur? :P

Am I the third or fourth dinosaur?

The fourth it would be (plus Gavin, Ed and Jure).

I used to be the fifth (for as long as the MFS series existed, which makes me a real t-rex) until autumn 2010 when iFly 737NG converted me for good.

I'll take over your fifth place. I've tried Carenado's Saratoga VC but made a fixed 2D version. I mainly use the LevelD 767 but always in 2D only. I find it's more like sitting in the real thing with the panel in front of me being able to read all the instruments clearly, (eyes are getting very old,) and use the hat-switch to look around if required.

Colin B (really old dinosaur)

Cannot arm the autothrottle in flight. INS aligned, Yaw damper+Pitch trim turned on, All hydraulics systems pressurised but for some reason Blue and Yellow hydraulic reservoirs are empty. Failures disabled and autopilot works OK.

EDIT: Pressed "Cancel all failures" and autothrottle is usable again. Hydraulic reservoirs still empty though.

I was noticing the same thing, seems the Blue and Yellow hydraulics drain slowly whenever i select cold and dark as my startup option. When I select normal startup state they're fine.

lol I guess I must take the fifth place then as i'm primarily a 2d flyer as long as a 2d panel is present...(pterodactyl?)

In ancient Britain, 2D Panels were the normal.

We have got used to them now... ...!

Paul...A Very Ancient Briton!.... :Cuppa: ...!

Those are great A300B4-200 panels for FS9 and FS2004.

In those new versions bleed air system is included and Flight dynamics have been improved.

the third dinosaur here... :p0504:

don't tell anyone, but I find myself using VC more and more. I must look silly sitting on my chair with those trackIR antennae on my head, but I love it.

As for the A-300, how is CLS A-300? It has a VC, could a merge be done? Also, wasn't there a pretty sophisticated payware A-300 available quite some time ago? The name escapes me right now...

regards,

Jure

Hi, Jure!

I must look silly sitting on my chair with those trackIR antennae on my head, but I love it.

I quite liked my TrackIR4 too, but it died. Since I converted to a 100% VC flyer I've been without TrackIR, so I got used to using the combination of my mouse, ActiveCamera and FSRecorder.

But purchasing TrackIR5 is planned for this autumn or winter. I already can't wait!

how is CLS A-300?

The only product I bought from CLS was their A330/340 series in the times when I was still flying 2D and merging aircraft (CLS+ Wilco, lol).

But as far as I know their A300/310 product is no fun. The exterior model looks not bad but the VC is very simple.

I guess you mean the Russian product called SSW A310. Yes, it was a real gem in its time but it got old now and there has been no support for a long time.

Yes...it is a typo...

correction: FS9 and FSX

For those having problems with the hydraulic levels on a cold and dark start - this is a FS9 bug.

Benoit will issue a patch soon.

BTW - this panel and flight dynamics (freeware) are now FAR better than the payware aerosoft FSX A300!!
