July 28, 201213 yr Ok, I managed to get behind my flight computer. Now... promise not to hit me........ Take note that I only really learned about VOR in Flight........... I discovered the VOR page in the GPS doesn't only show VOR but also DME... Never new that. I simply dialed in the two nearest 'VORs' but those turned out to be DMEs: hence the DME working but the VOR gauge doing nothing. MY BAD!!! BTW I tested what happens when you switch NAV to GPS and VOR2 simpy keeps on working as it should! O, while I am at it: 1. the exterior model has NOTHING to do with the exterior which you see when sitting in the VC, right? So the settings makes no difference there? 2. What's ADF dip...? I have it disabled for more realism but I haven't got a clue what it is...
July 28, 201213 yr lol it happens and happened to me today also. The older I get it seems like more and more days per year get tacked on that my brain turns temporarily stupid. ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-E GAMING / i9-9900k @ 4.7 all cores w/ NOCTUA NH-D15S / 2080ti / 32GB G.Skill 3200 RIPJAWS / 1TB Evo SSD / 500GB Evo SSD / 2x 3TB HDD / CORSAIR CRYSTAL 570X / IPSG 850W 80+ PLATINUM / Dual 4k Monitors
July 28, 201213 yr Bought it. Awesome plane. Performance (fps etc.) is splendid. I'm a happy man. And member of the RealAir Lancair Legacy Owners Club. I personally already like it more then the RV-7A...! Everything works perfectly. I never taxied this good with my toebrakes, setting the mixture has never been so easy and good to do (finally), love the colors (everything belongs together: some planes look like various gauges has been collected from various sources and put into one VC), love the speed, love the options, the sounds... Really and indeed an awesome plane!!! Ok, with that, I think I'm sold on it. :D

I don't quite understand... you'll see the spoliers deploy from the VC and you'll see it on the external too... 2. You'd want it enabled for realism... this post explains it in a nutshell.. and there's another link... http://www.pprune.or...1405-post4.html http://www.allstar.f...du/aero/adf.htm | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
July 28, 201213 yr The next question to ask is why we are using stone age navaids in this age of inertial reference systems and GPS. The answer to which is: Because to do so shows everyone what proper airmen we are. (not me I might add, I'm a GPS man, period! If there ain't a magenta line pointing to it, I ain't going there.) :P The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
July 28, 201213 yr GPS is great in many cases but so is VOR when GPS gets in the way of (my) common sense. A good example is a flight plan I use from KHQM to 2WA1.. It's a average hop but there is one giant problem.. Olympic National Forest stands in the way.. I like to fly in the respects of: "If I was a GA pilot what would I do?".. *I* wouldn't be caught dead trying to fly a Cessna 152, Katana, Scout etc over Olympic National Forest to get to 2WA1. So out of KHQM I fly a bearing to TOU and once I intercept it follow a radial off TOU to hit 2WA1.. Adds about 40 minutes of flight time but it keeps me from lumbering over mountains in low powered GA aircraft. July 29, 201213 yr "Stone Age" navaids are also handy when your GPS breaks, like mine just did. Ok, so it was my internet connection dying... but GMap suddenly stopped loading new sectional tiles as I flew along. Rather than fly my planned route through Alaska's Thompson Pass and down the Tiekel River valley from Valdez to Gulkana, I climbed above the mountains, grabbed my paper WAC and tuned in Gulkana VOR. Oh, well. I'll fly the valleys another time, I guess.
July 29, 201213 yr I'm sorry, I thought we were talking Flight Simming. The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA

I didn't make myself clear enough, I think. In the Legacy options panel you can set the quality of the exterior model (high, medium, basic). I suppose this is only about the exterior model you see when you are in a view outside of VC and that this setting has nothing to do with the quality of the exterior which you see while you are in the VC? In other words: when I am in the VC and look left, will my wing look prettier if I use the highest setting for the exterior model? 2. Thanks for the links! Got it now. I will leave it on: more realistic, which is nice, even though I only use ADF just to see some arrows moving when I am bored...
July 29, 201213 yr Glad you love it, Jeroen..It is lovely! I'm flying round PNG using the excellent PNG Bush Flying that Ray turned me on to (thanks Ray ) Having to land in somebody's back garden in PNG has had me really experimenting with speed and configurations in it, and I've pretty much nailed flying it slowly..and to slow it down/lose height; it really does do the best side-slips I've yet seen/done in FSX...and don't get me started on the sounds! Bought the RV7 the day before yesterday..lovely plane, too but I think the Legacy edges it...RXP integration is slightly better, too imo They (RealAir) are doing a 172 next..can't wait! EDIT: and you know what I've just noticed, craning my neck behind me? RealAir have even modelled the golf-club sized luggage compartment, complete with cargo net! The devil is in the detail, you know :diablo: JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
July 29, 201213 yr Bought the RV7 the day before yesterday..lovely plane, too but I think the Legacy edges it... Yes. The RV-7 was the best. Until the Legacy was released. And it's indeed also in the details: specially when it comes to the finishing touches, I find the Legacy to be better than the RV. The light in VC during dawn; consistency of the colors of the various gauges; things like that. The RealAir just has that extra something all over it.
