'Most complete GA'---Probably. I really didn't think it could get any better than the RV7 and to be brutally honest it doesn't. It's on a par but it's different. Someone mentioned speed management, it taught me a lot about that, to the point where Orbx's Lancair, once a much hated aircraft, is now an aircraft that I fly quite a bit and with a whole lot more confidence!

The Legacy's downfall is short field landings, it needs a longish runway to land on and it can even mess those up by stopping before the first turnoff! The upshot is, that you won't be disappointed Jeroen.

Be sure to stop by the Owners Club and browse the posts there. You will find some good tips from the developer. You can also pick up a new signature box while you are there. Welcome to the club.

My friend built a RV-9...I was going to get that RV7 just to try and repaint his plane, but I forgot about it...well looks like I might have something to do for the remainder of the week!

Ah OK. It's just that I painted an RV-9a owned by him. Seemed like a coincidence.

Bought it. Awesome plane. Performance (fps etc.) is splendid. I'm a happy man. And member of the RealAir Lancair Legacy Owners Club. I personally already like it more then the RV-7A...! Everything works perfectly. I never taxied this good with my toebrakes, setting the mixture has never been so easy and good to do (finally), love the colors (everything belongs together: some planes look like various gauges has been collected from various sources and put into one VC), love the speed, love the options, the sounds... Really and indeed an awesome plane!!!

Glad you are enjoying it, With the Legacy and the Turbine Duke and the Scout package especially the Bellanca I have all my GA needs covered.

Question: my VOR gauges do nothing... I entered two VOR freqs in the NAV radio's and the DME shows the distances etc. but the VOR gauges refuse to do anything: they keep on showing the red flag. Any idea what I am doing wrong? WHen I switch NAV to GPS (with a plan loaded in the GPS) the HSI does react, but VOR... nothing! It can't be that I am out of reach because the DME shows the right information.

 

BTW The ADF gauge works fine.

 

BTW2 What I also really love about the Legacy is the light in the VC. In fact, the not too good light during dusk and dawn in the RV-7A (you can clearly see a weird sort of layer being projected on the VC) made me look for another plane: Flight showed my that flying during dawn and dusk rocks and so I wanted a plane that also looks good during that time of day. I am doing a dawn flight right now: started off when it was a bit dark and very red, and now slowly things are turning lighter: awesome. And the light in the VC fits all the time!

Interesting.. Just to make sure to get my facts straight. You're saying you are getting ZERO VOR acitivity when you have the correct freq entered and the NAV/GPS switch set to NAV?

 

I just checked mine. Loaded up KHQM, tuned both radios to 117.7, switch set to NAV and they were picked right up on NAV2 and HSI..

Correct, that's what happening... So apparently it's not something obvious that I am missing. Unfortunately I can't give it another try before tomorrow and I don't know the freqs from mind. I'll get back on it tomorrow.
