August 16, 201213 yr I think this one was designed specifically for Jcomm and the Cub. Jose you'll like it. You don't spawn directly adjacent to the cache. You have to fly a bit. Also the placement requires some good pilotage. I suggest the Cub because this one lends itself to a short landing , a short hike, and a short takeoff. Enjoy Thank you. August 17, 201213 yr Launching Flight now....me like harder to hit Aerocaches...... edit: damn I got that one June 1st.
August 17, 201213 yr Yep! It's a very nice one to catch, but I already had it... I really didn't recall but when I started flight yesterday (here in Portugal it is now 06:25 AM and I checked it yesterday at 08:12 PM, it had a tick :-( Anyway I flew to the place, just to recall, and yes - The Cub is the plane to do it ;-) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
August 17, 201213 yr Author I had already gotten this one a while back also. But just for a little fun, I wanted to see if I could land the cub on the pier. Since I have the HUD turned off, it was pretty difficult to judge the wind. Crabbed in, landed, got out and walked around, then took back off for the airport. Much fun. Thank you. Curious :-) That's exactly how I like to do it when the aerocaches are placed in zones where I can walk to... I really have to invest on FRAPS or the like to start getting some videos. Also, I can't find how to easily upload images to the forum :-( Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
August 17, 201213 yr Author Jose - You need to set up a Photobucket account (or something similar) to load pics. I have an account with a Flight/FSX folder where I put my flying pics. Then when you post you can insert the URL of the pic and it will show in your post. I think there is a better explanation of this somewhere on the site. If I find it, I'll post a link for you. August 17, 201213 yr Thank you for the hint. Strangely when I start a post myself there is an option to attach a file to it, something that is not available when replying to another post (?) August 17, 201213 yr Hi, I'd already gotten the cache but decided to check out the area again. Came straight from Alaska and apparently brought the weather with me. Unfortunately, all the Hawaiian roads disappeared. Jim F.
August 18, 201213 yr I use IrfanView for my pictures that I upload to Avsim. Problem is when you hit the "V" key to get your shot it is saved as a Bitmap Image. You have to convert it to a JPEG and resize it for upload to Avsim. www.irfanview.com It is a free download and can do many things. I have used it for years. I am sure there must be other programs out there that can do it with less steps involved. I just am used to this one.
August 18, 201213 yr Author I too have used Irfanview for years. It's only gotten more powerful as the developer is always looking for new additions. But, you still need to upload the pics to an external hosting site to get them here for the most part. Jim, how in the world did you get the snow in Hawaii? That's very interesting especially with the fir trees too. :) Thank you. August 18, 201213 yr This is what I do with IrfanView. I just save them to "pictures" on my hard drive to a folder I named "Flight". It is saved as a bitmap image. You can't upload a bitmap image. Click on open with Irfanview, under Image click on Resize/Resample. Pick the size you want, usually 800x600 or 1024x786. Click OK and save as Flight folder. Click on More Reply Options in your post. Browse to the flight folder in Pictures, double click on the jpeg version and click on Attach this file and you are done. You can then upload the JPEG version to the your Forum post . Clear as mud, right.
August 18, 201213 yr Just had an extremely fun flight with the Carbon Cub while flying to the aerocache. Not to mention that the scenery looks great in this area from a high altitude.
