I think this thread is great. And i also love how ONE scene from a movie has such a hold on people (the close encounters of the third kind ATC scene) It is just an affirmation that Steven Spielberg is a great moviemaker. CEOTTK is one of the better movies ever made, and was sadly drowned out by all the noise of Star Wars, as they both came out in 1977.

I can't watch black and white films generally. They make me think of my grandmother watching old John Wayne and Elvis Presley :angry: films, and making me miss my cartoons on Saturday. I associate black and white movies with being frustrated!!

 

Due to the wonders of late night television, I have seen The Day the Earth Stood Still though, as well as Forbidden planet, When worlds Collide and some really cheesy others, some of which left a lasting impression, including a really (really) cheesy Italian film Named Battle Of The Worlds about UFO's attacking earth that still managed to make a huge impression on me. (Lots of shiny spaceships and lasers and creepy alien weirdness for a big eyed kid)

 

That film is apparently so old that it is now in the public domain, free to be seen on Google or through YouTube or anyplace else that will host it. Enjoy the cheese!!! (and the funky old sound effects)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Someone who says he is a commercial pilot has posted on a UFO website, claiming he spotted a UFO while flying into Kansas City International Airport on Monday night.

 

The pilot posted the sighting on UFO Stalker saying he was on approach to the airport from St Louis when he and his co-pilot noticed an unidentified object following their plane.

 

He described the object as 300 feet away from his plane, and was silver or gray in color with three blue or white lights on the bottom and one on the top. He said it was a disc-shaped craft with a low dome on top.

 

Airport spokesman Joe McBride referred comment to the Federal Aviation Administration.

 

This isn't the first reported UFO sighting in the area. Last October, 87 UFO sightings were reported around Kansas City - more than anywhere else in the world for that month

I agree, it's absurd to think that the so called UFO was flying around the side of the plane for about 20 minutes and no one had a mobile phone camera! IMO this is a perfect example of a hoax report, made even more so by the absence of any name from the pilot, too convenient for my liking.
