October 10, 201213 yr Well, if not, you can always wait for PFPX. A very promising piece of work, but the story goes way too long... Let's hope they 'll make it someday! How did this become the Opus support forum? :-) Rob Hall. It's related to the everlasting desire of NGXers for proper virtual weather. ^_^ George Golas ---------------------- I hate gravity!
October 10, 201213 yr It's related to the everlasting desire of NGXers for proper virtual weather. ^_^ Thats a pretty loose connection with the NGX Forum. Don't get me wrong...I am all for innovative & new ideas for FS but I do find myself questioning why we have 10 (TEN) pages of entirely OPUS related chat here when OPUS has its own little corner of AVSIM here: http://forum.avsim.n...-opusfsx-forum/ In my mind this appears to circumvent this direction: http://forum.avsim.n...ff-topic-posts/ Although if OPUS is deemed to be 'relevant here' I wonder what the view would be about opening up similar threads related to Activesky (not exclusively related to the PMDG 737 NGX) or the pros & cons of using FSINN vs Squawk Box 4 (also not exclusively related to the PMDG 737 NGX). Amongst these 10 pages of comment are words written by 'Staff' themselves. I am all for following the simple rules that are in place here (sign you name at the bottom of your post, remove all references to your FS life from your signature by placing them into your profile & keeping things relevant) but we can't hope to think that everyone will stick to them while the goal posts keep moving. I am not suprised when people sometimes get the 'hump' because rules suddenly get 'enforced'...& I do realise that trying to manage a behemoth like the AVSIM Fora is like trying to move liquid poo up a wet grassy slope with your bare hands so this is not a 'swipe' or 'slight' on those that try to make this place run smoothly. The cynic in me see this thread as a free plug for a new product related to Flight Simulation & not exclusively related to the PMDG 737 NGX...lets hope it is not an eye in the future shape of things to come. It would be slightly better if it were in the PMDG General Forum but it would seem it is running very well in one of the most popular sub fora inside AVSIM very well thank you! So why 'bovver wiv rools altogevver?' lets just bundle everything into the forum that gets the most hits from now on. Finally, before I am burnt by the flames of the righteous indignation torch I will just reiterate that I am not anti OPUS at all - I reckon it could be one of the develoments of the year of not the FS decade, nor am I anti AVSIM or it's merry band of volunteers - all of whoom give of their free time willingly to enhance our enjoyment of our hooby. October 10, 201213 yr Commercial Member Oops probably my fault for answering questions without looking which forum they were on. Regards Cheryl

While i absolutely get your point, this tells me that this product is really making an impact on the Sim Comunity. Just an observation on my part. Regards, Rick Hobbs
October 10, 201213 yr this tells me that this product is really making an impact on the Sim Comunity. Agreed...but I guess my point is that this sub fora is probably not the place...it (OPUS) has its own home & by letting it run on & on here in the end it makes it harder for the simple rules we have in place to be followed. Nice signature BTW ^_^ http://forum.avsim.n...-other-changes/ http://forum.avsim.n...now-in-profile/ Steve Bell "Wise men talk because they have something to say. October 10, 201213 yr I already got your point Steve. As i said, just an observation, not an argument. As for my sig., notwithstanding the fact that i actually disagree with this particular rule, i will comply. Regards, Edit: Here you go  Rick Hobbs

Nice signature BTW ^_^ http://forum.avsim.n...-other-changes/ http://forum.avsim.n...now-in-profile/ Steve, since you feel so strongly about this thread, it is very easy to click the report button and ask the Mods to move the thread to the Opus forum here at Avsim. We honestly don't need a long speech about it, as there is a huge amount of threads on subjects that are off topic so to speak. AS2012 + Rex threads on this forum are common, so Opus cannot be blamed for this subject matter, after all, they are not the original posters. Avsim moderators cannot monitor every thread, that is why the report button is available. Use it. Edit: Thanks for the links to the forum rules, but next time, let the moderators do that please. You are just a forum member like the rest of us, and don't need your self appointed moderating shoved down my throat. If you wish to become a moderator, please apply through the usual channels. October 11, 201213 yr Well pardon me for even being born...'pot', 'kettle' & 'black' spring to mind. October 11, 201213 yr Commercial Member Thanks Tom, I was just about to suggest you move this topic to our forum but you have beaten me to it! I certainly didn't want to tread on anyones toes. Cheers Cheryl
October 11, 201213 yr I get weird windshifts every so often up in cruise with opus.. Any ideas? Cameron Lett
October 12, 201213 yr Commercial Member Not sure why people are reporting wind shifts again after a period of everything being OK, anyway OpusFSX Beta Version 2.27.0 is now available for download on our website. If your system is still plagued with wind shifts at higher altitudes then first try setting the Transition altitude to 0 feet and adopting global surface winds. I would like to stress this is a known FSX bug and the only complete cure is to adopt global (static) weather. You could also look to minimising the overhead on FSX by reducing the number of active addons making demands through the SimConnect interface.
October 12, 201213 yr Commercial Member In this beta we have corrected a problem generating weather in very sparse regions. We have reintroduced the Transition and Recovery altitudes for people still experiencing wind shift problems on their systems, improved the visibility smoothing to permit greater variability between weather cells, and altered the minimum limits imposed on TrackIR raw data. You can keep track of upgrades by watching this topic, http://www.simforums.com/forums/announcements_topic42608_page2.html
