October 21, 201213 yr Now that I see the unfortunate news on the other forum that Quality Wings has decided to make their upcoming 787 only for FSX Ummm ... link?

October 21, 201213 yr Would anybody like to comment on any "negative" aspects of having an FS9 installation AND FSX on the same PC, if any? Although I understand there is no reason against having both sims on the same PC I would be concerned that some sort of conflict could possibly occur. I have spent a fortune on add-ons for FSX but I really miss the higher frame-rates of FS9. Besides, I also spent a fortune on FS9 add-ons that are now basically redundant. Anthony O'Brien
October 21, 201213 yr I've have FS 2002, FS 2004, and FSX, and CFS 2, for years, installed and running on my Hard Drive, and I regularly use each version for flight, and also to answer any Forum queries regarding each of them. No conflicts whatsoever! They all run fine individually, on Windows XP Pro, and Windows Home Edition 32 bit! Paul....Mainly FS 2004 and FS Nav... ...!
October 21, 201213 yr I purchased FS9 in April 2006. That was the first sim I purchased since sublogic's flightsim. I have spent hundreds if not thousands on add ons. When FSX was on the horizon, I remember Microsoft had a link to see if your PC could handle it. At the time, my PC was three higher than the minimum system requirements. So, I was in NYC when it was released and purchased it. Loaded it on my machine and I had horrible frame rates. Removed and never looked back. Sadly, FS9 is slowly going the way Latin, with the announcement from Quality Wings, we will probably be hard pressed to find any developers to add content to the best sim ever. Well in my opinion anyway. I think when I make a switch, it will be to P3D, not really caring about the arm chair lawyers perspective on things. Don't blame for my name, my parents were hippies and met in Woodstock
October 21, 201213 yr The only serious flightsim being developed for the recreational market is not FSX, or P3D. I'm keeping an eye on X-Plane, and there's a of of stuff happening there. If I'm to leave the comfort of FS9, it may as well be to something really new.
October 22, 201213 yr Would anybody like to comment on any "negative" aspects of having an FS9 installation AND FSX on the same PC, if any? I've been running FSX and FS9 alongside eachother on Win7 x64. There's absolutely no interaction, good or bad, that I can detect, between the two installations. Most add-ons seem to let you choose which version to install to (or are specific to one or the other) The only one so far that hasn't was Multi Crew Experience, which automatically installed itself to both FS9 and FSX, but disabling that from FS9 was as simple as renaming a dll file. October 22, 201213 yr Author This is a little lengthy...lol. Anyways, I've decided that (like many of you pointed out to me) I shouldn't say my final farewells yet, because, if you'll read my most recent topic in the forum, you'll discover that I have found a new excellent use for FS9, and for those of you who have given up on FS9, try it. Cheers, -Chris FS2004 Forever
October 22, 201213 yr Commercial Member Like others have alluded, nothing stopping you from running both sims (or even 3 or 4). You are allowed to have a polygamous simming relationship. We promise, we won't judge. Kyle Weber (Private Pilot, ASEL; Flight Test Engineer)Check out my repaints and downloads, all right here on AVSIM

Anyways, I think I might have an affair with Fs2004 over FSX, Fs2004 for my classics and FSX for my more modern. FS2004 Forever
October 22, 201213 yr Very well said Chris, I have been thinking about this same thing for some time now. I have an older but not ancient computer and have FSX installed on it. I bought a couple of Carenado add ons, and a few other things but my frames are mediocre at best. The only reason I still have a desk top PC anymore is for FS, and it is hard to spend a lot of money just to upgrade to a new (and admitedly old now) version of FSX. Guess I am sticking with FS2004 for a little while longer... Congrats on the move, and hope you have many years of FS bliss... Cheers, Scott

I may not move and completely drop FS2004, but most of my flying will more than likely go too FSX. I suggest a laptop. Desktops can be far more powerful, but laptops can be plenty powerful enough and are mobile. Just food for thought ^_^ FS2004 Forever
October 24, 201213 yr I left "many times". But, just for short test flights in FSX andP3D. Truth is, I really never left! I am still purchasing for FS 9.1 and loving it (on my new PC). Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
