That video caused a lot of controversy on pprune!

What do you mean....In Mother Russia, deicing happens in takeoff... acceleration = wind velocity = deicing = savings ... all good no???

WOW! The A320 t/o is absolutely criminal!

Did a bit of research....

Here is the pprune discussion: http://www.pprune.or...keoff-roll.html

Also, here is a video of an almost identical incident. A lot less snow but visible ice...

Can't believe that any PIC would elect to proceed with t/o under such conditions.

Also came across this..."Special web page was created by the witness of the incident (Mr.Anopov). The first officer of the aircraft during that flight got in touch with Anopov and said that Captain Mr. Zolotaryov ignored his warning concerning the undone de-icing procedures."

'You Americans build airplanes like a Rolex watch. Knock it off the night table and it stops ticking. We build airplanes like a cheap alarm clock. But knock if off the table and it still wakes you up.' Mr. Tupolev.

This quip sure as hell applies to the first video.

I wouldn't want to be the one having to clean the aircraft after that muddy departure. I wonder how much dried mud fell off the aircraft in flight and when the gear was extended.

I was wondering about mud contamination up in the wheel wells and if any got into the engine intakes. I can imagine that much mud going up into the wheel wells is not good for the retractable landing gear.

Sure they show similar scenarios but one is in an environment covered by snow and the other in an environment without it.
