P3D launcher?

Featured Replies

Maarten, Pete...have just run the new version of Makerunways, v4.614, but Sim Launcher still places me off the end of RW23 at EGSC. Is there anything vital that should be deleted before running this latest version of Makerunways ? Thanks for your efforts, both of you.

Hi Pete,

Thanks for all your efforts! Sorry about misspelling your name. I know how annoying that is, because my name is misspelled 9 out of 10 times as well. I will see how to make best use of the runway information now available in runways.xml.

@Paul K: my program does not automagically make use of the new information in runways.xml; I need to change my code and that will take a bit of time.

thanks, Maarten

Ah I see, Maarten. Thanks for that, and thanks for your hard work too. Much appreciated by all, I'm sure.

Much appreciated by me, certainly. And my thanks to Pete too.

Hi all,

I released v3.7 just a second ago. Thanks to Pete, the positioning on the runway is now much better and corresponds to what the simulator does itself. I've also added a depiction of the position of the sun in the sky in the weather/time of day dialog and a prototype of a dialog that will, when it's finished, enable you to change system and engine settings.

thanks, Maarten

 Maarten ! Just tried v3.7 on RW 06 at KHQM and RW 23 at EGSC ( as in my screenshots above ) and runway positioning is fine now. Very well done, and big thanks to Pete Dowson too.

Hello all you clever people who makes this frustrating hobby a little less frustrating. Where can i download this software? I can only find v3.2 in the file library.

If it ain't broke, i fix it until it is...

aha.. found out. It updates itself :)

Hi, suddenly the program is loading but not displaying the main window.

I have reinstalled but the same thing happens. :(

Edit: I deleted the ini file and it worked again.

Hi Maarten

I have recently swapped over to P3D as an experiment (I am running it alongside FSX). I found your amazing program whilst doing research on the pro's and cons of P3D.

It works well , but I have my aircraft (Carenado Mooney) parked at EGBB (Birmingham UK). When I try to load a new airport, a dialogue box shows saying I can't change airports while the aircraft is moving. But it's not moving, it's parked with the brake on lol. Have I missed something?

Many thanks in anticipation.

Hi

Problem solved - I wasn't parked in an official parking bay. Once I had corrected that, everything worked fine.

Hi all,

I released v4.0:

  • added: system and engine settings with presets for 'cold and dark', 'electrics on' and 'engines running'
  • added: load flightplan and save to flight/send to sim dialog;
option to move the aircraft to the departure location of the flightplan
  • added: link to Google Earth in main window
  • added: 'View release notes' in Help menu
  • added: gate radiuses
  • added: wing span value in aircraft details dialog
  • changed: simlauncher will exit when downloading update (effective from version 4.1 onwards)
  • changed: start location can be changed wether the aircraft is moving or not:
when startlocation is changed, aircraft speed will always be set to zero and the parking brake will be set.
  • changed: added runway and gate designations to google earth placemark title
  • fixed: gate locations (error introduced in v3.7)

enjoy!

@Pete: I don't think it had anything to do with where you parked the aircraft: the flight file contains values for pitch, bank, yaw, longitudinal, lateral and vertical speeds, and if one of them is not zero I consider the aircraft to be moving. v4.0 still warns you about a moving aircraft, but does not prevent you from changing the start location.

@deetee: please send me the simlauncher.ini and simlauncher.log files the next time you experience an issue like the one you described: maybe it's an error on my side and I might be able to solve it once I look at those files.

thanks, Maarten

I released v4.0:

I'm liking the sound of this more and more! Is there any chance of it working or being made to work with FSX? Although I have got two officially installed copies of P3D 1.4 I'm not ready to change over yet. I would hope it would only be a matter of path changes and filenames?

Best Regards

Pete

@Pete Dowson: it has actually worked with FSX from the beginning; just check 'FSX installed?' and enter the appropriate folder and file names in the preferences; then choose 'FSX Launcher' in the options menu or click on the FSX icon in the middle of the toolbar.

thanks, Maarten
