November 16, 201213 yr I'm thinking of buying the 747X as my VA has a bunch of routes that require that plane but I wonder if it makes sense to buy the current version that's over 4 years old or wait till v2 is released. Since PMDG has no release date for v2 (or the 777 for that matter), I'm of two minds. What do you guys think? November 16, 201213 yr Depends how eager you are to fly the 747 i guess! I'd say wait for version 2 to come out, RSR said it will come right after the T7...Thats my 2 pence! Chris Howard
November 16, 201213 yr hi chris, its totally up to you but i would as you can get use to the aircraft systems so it will be easier to use when the v2 come out Thomas Wills Thomas Wills
November 16, 201213 yr I would wait for v2, if you look here at avsim ifly has a freeware 747, its rather good, here is a description page. http://www.avsim.com/pages/0309/iFly/747.htm This could hold you over til v2 0r the T7 come out.
November 16, 201213 yr Author Thanks for responses. I'll have a look at the iFly bird. Chris Magnus HR Manager Air Jamaica Virtual Airlines and Cargo (http://www.airjamaicavirtualairlinesandcargo.org)
November 16, 201213 yr The 777 as of what will know should be released this or next month. I bet they've done a lot more on the 747 than we think. 777 is a perfect example of what they can do in a fairly short amount of time. - Luke Pabari

I bet they've done a lot more on the 747 than we think. 777 is a perfect example of what they can do in a fairly short amount of time. I thought they said that they won't begin work on the 747v2 until after the 777? Or was that strictly talking about previewing the aircraft? Best regards, happy flying, Wallace
November 16, 201213 yr I thought they said that they won't begin work on the 747v2 until after the 777? Or was that strictly talking about previewing the aircraft? Nope - the 777 development apparently offset the 747's. In one of the updates back in June; Rob said it went into Development two months ago. But yeah they won't show it until another major 777 preview or even release for obvious reasons. My guess is we won't see much of it. The 777 we've seen the flight deck nearly eight months ago once with only one major exterior preview. I don't understand why they released a flight deck photo on Facebook but not here - something is going on ;-) - Luke Pabari

I feel that we may see a screenshot of the 747 in the next "all products update" that was hinted at by Rob in the October thread and a bunch of 777 pictures as well as a few of the DC6. And I absolutely hate seeing the pictures on Facebook and not here; PMDG loves to tease us like nobody else Oh and OT: I would say to wait it out (at least until the next update so you can get a sense of how long the wait will be). But it really depends on how much you want to fly it. If you are really anxious then do it, it's great. But if you feel you can wait somewhere probably around six months, then wait it out. Best regards, happy flying, Wallace
November 16, 201213 yr something is going on I second that. I think they are a lot further than they are letting on. Though I could always be wrong (just saying that so I won't have guys in suits and carrying violin cases knocking on my door...) And I absolutely hate seeing the pictures on Facebook and not here; PMDG loves to tease us like nobody else I'm sure the guys are laughing their butts off at us right now... Kenny Lee"Keep climbing"
November 16, 201213 yr With the MD-11 and the NGX it definitely is out dated however that still doesn't stop me from flying from Frankfurt to Hong Kong.
November 16, 201213 yr I'm sure the guys are laughing their butts off at us right now... Haha +1. I feel like they scan the forums and make fun of all of the speculation and arguments over progress. Best regards, happy flying, Wallace
