Nice to see the North of England wasn't neglected by the team down there in Hampshire tee hee. (But could we have the Tyne Bridge and St James Park (NUFC) in an update please ..... pleeeease) ?? :lol:

Generally I like the new look for England, for what it gives you it's very good value. However, it's a bit of a shock to find the large town you live in has been reduced to a small hamlet and a lot of the coast line has fields of wheat vanishing into the ocean.

 

If you live in the UK don't fly around your home town - explore a little - you will be a much happier bunny.

The top picture is a million times nicer!

I guess the bottom pic is GEX, (or is it UTX I can never remember) and what is it about GEX and all the poplar trees, a little more than out of character for the UK!

But what are we looking at? What are we comparing? What's the co-ordinates of the camera? Are the seasons, time and environment the same in each shot etc.

 

Posting one shot two versions is like posting two Capital Letter A's and saying which is the nicer font? When you look at Font you look at A-Z and the numbers and the punctuation marks included.

As I said - UT2 was causing the problems. I got rid of it and hey presto - it worked.

The two pictures are taken from exactly the same place at exactly the same time with the same camera zoom and angle, look at the clouds and water. The top picture is ORBX ENG and the bottom shot is plain old FSX Stock scenery )

BTW One of the things I like a LOT about Orbx England is how they dressed up every airport! Lot's of planes and cars! All static, yes, but still, it gives a sense of something happening there, unlike the empty default airports. I really like to see things down there when I approach.

ORBX ENG is a replacement for stock FSX scenery, so that's what I'm comparing it to.

 

There's a lot of detail, the cooling towers at Ramsgate make a good landmark for the Manston area. I hope they can put in a generic "Keep" or something like that for castles, as I saw none at Dover or Deal.

This is one of the most valuable things about any recent Orbx region. I hate default FSX airports and their ugly buildings. The work Orbx does to bring all airports up to a higher level is, all by itself, enough for me as a GA flyer to buy in to any region I'm interested in flying. It's one of the most under-rated elements of an Orbx region.

What do you mean even Newcastle & the North East look nice ?? ..... You clearly have never been to the North East. It's one of the most beautiful parts of England. It hasn't been "grim up North" since the 70s you know. :wink:

As soon as I saw that the first 2 screenpics were of London, I knew it was going to be a bad review.... I do love FTX ENG, but I do think London is the lowlight of the package .... it is pretty grim! (at least in this package!).

He said disappointed not stinker. (Two very different words), and he also said "it is still a good one",

 

He posted a "review" the same day it came out. How much did he explore? How much time it took to make an 8 line assessment?

 

Is it a fair evaluation?

He is comparing photorealistic endless summer UK VFR scenery against landclass five seasonal scenery can’t have both. it’s one or the other.

 

Of course, England 1.0 has flaws, London needs work etc. But we will get updates.

One thing is for sure, it will never be 100% photorealistic.

 

Anyway I got England scenery that looks much better than stock FSX scenery, plus around 200 upgraded "semi live" airports for 40 bucks. (Around 0.20 cents each). That is a great deal for me.
