November 29, 201213 yr Hi Destination airport is equipped with ILS cat 1 and DME. Is there a way getting DME information when flying visual approach? When ILS approach is not chosen in FMC. Geir Geir Hansen
November 29, 201213 yr Set ILS frequency and look onto DME indications. I'm not sure, but I think it would be called raw data approach rather then visual. Rostyslav S Wanna fly 737NGX with turbulence?
November 29, 201213 yr raw data approach rather then visual I've always heard "visual". Kenny Lee"Keep climbing"
November 30, 201213 yr Set ILS frequency and look onto DME indications. I'm not sure, but I think it would be called raw data approach rather then visual. I think it would be a visual, backed up with an ILS. Paul
November 30, 201213 yr As paul said, you would call it a visual approach with the ILS backing you up. Most approaches allow for you to use GPS in leu of DME. Cheers,RyanProfessional Coffee Drinker/BAe146 DriverAircraft Maintenance Engineer
November 30, 201213 yr Commercial Member Just tune the ILS frequency manually and you'll get DME info on the ND if you enable the pointer. (assuming you're talking about the NGX here) Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
November 30, 201213 yr Most approaches allow for you to use GPS in leu of DME. I've always wondered what that actually means as I see it on the AU approach charts all the time. Michael R
November 30, 201213 yr Just tune the ILS frequency manually and you'll get DME info on the ND if you enable the pointer. (assuming you're talking about the NGX here) I've noticed that the NGX shows the DME on both the ND lower left/right corner and PFD, however in the aircrafts i fly (738) If i tune an ILS i only get the DME on my PFD, DME on the ND remains dashed. And if i tune a VOR i get the DME only on the ND. Is this a company option from boeing? Patrik Stellgren
December 1, 201213 yr Yes that's exacly what i'm talking about. That's how it looks like in the plane. But in the NGX you would see DME 0,2 in this case below VOR 1 Patrik Stellgren

Different aerials, different radios, though some systems are multiplexed so the same radios are used for different sources (e.g. one DME receiver used for both DME and ILS functions). Many aircraft display the ILS DME data in a different location to the DME stations. The B757/767 is one exception with EFIS that I know of however where the ILS data is diuspkayed in the position of DME1, however the presentation is different as it is prefixed L for Landing System (e.g. instead of 12.0 it reads L12.0 for ILS DME). Best regards, Robin.

Cannot upload a NGX picture right now, but i'm sure it shows the localizer dme on the nd. airliners.net/photo/Air-Europa/Boeing-737-85P/0970413/L/&sid=dfcccc52b45b304cd7233e2e6ce57164 Miguel Arias
December 4, 201213 yr Commercial Member Re-read what I posted. I think you mis-understood. I agree that the ILS DME is in a different place to the other DMEs. Best regards, Robin. Sent from my Turing machine.
