January 8, 201313 yr Bought Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana in one swoop its Awesome flying along Ohio river see the barges, and farm fields, and find lots of little hills, and found couple limestone pits. Its makes Midwest flyable lol. Gonna buy IL next and when WI, MN, MI, IA when they come out buy those too. The only payware that give me more fps.
January 8, 201313 yr I started building out Paso Robles, California on BlueSky and I'm waiting for them to do California 2.0 (with great impatience...LOL) so that I can see how it works there. I'm hoping to build it out and slowly build out other airports around the state. Maybe, just maybe, a little hint will move them along on California? Gregg Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. January 8, 201313 yr I appreciate all MSE v2.0. I just notice New jersey / Pennsylvania don't fit well : If it is right, I hope a patch. Windows 11 | i7-14700KF | DDR5-64Go | RTX-4070 Super | 1440p 32" curved screen | G903
January 8, 201313 yr Best to use a download manager. All MegaSceneryEarth files can be multi-thread downloaded for extra speed, but only if you use a download manager program. One is suggested in the information provided on the same page your download links are given on. Give that a go. Runways appear and disappear on California and Arizona Airports- I have the entire states. Is there a fix for this runways issue, please?
January 8, 201313 yr I appreciate all MSE v2.0. I just notice New jersey / Pennsylvania don't fit well : If it is right, I hope a patch. Well, unless they are now color matching between states, I don't think you'll see a patch or fix. MegaSceneryEarth is basically SimSavvy w/ water masks. SimSavvy has some states that don't match - I think CA-OR is another example too that I can remember. It's not really their fault. It's the source data they are using. However, I think there are things that could be done to match or blend them. It just would take a ton of work. Regards, Kevin LaMal "Facts Don't Care About Your Feelings" - Shapiro2024

January 8, 201313 yr Runways appear and disappear on California and Arizona Airports- I have the entire states. Is there a fix for this runways issue, please? This was a problem in many areas with the old "Earth" products. I'd asked earlier if this has carried over to the new V2 stuff and haven't heard a definitive answer other than that they're not doing anything to update airports. Can any here who've bought the new products comment on any broken airports? Scott
January 8, 201313 yr I am downloading more as I write this (Indiana, Pennsylvannia, Virginia, and NJ). Plan on getting NY too. I think it is a little early to be talking about problems in Arizona and California as those V2 products have not been released yet. I'm having a hard time understanding how an aircraft can disappear on takeoff and landing though. I don't recall seeing this as an issue in the past and this is the first time I've heard about this problem. I would think the MegaEarth developers would have fixed it by now if they were at fault. In any case, if they are addon airports, they should be placed on top of the Ariz/Calif MegaEarth scenery in the Scenery Library. The mesh resolution slider raises/lowers the textures so that could be an issue too and you might have to play with that. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! January 8, 201313 yr I just can't find myself flying in photoscenery without autogen... Just can't it just isn't realistic at all to me.
January 8, 201313 yr I'm having a hard time understanding how an aircraft can disappear on takeoff and landing though. Jim, I think he's referring to the problem of RUNWAYS (not aircraft) at default FSX airports which disappear into the underlying terrain in places - pretty common with the old MSE products. The question is, does this still occur with the V2 products. Scott
January 8, 201313 yr I just can't find myself flying in photoscenery without autogen... Just can't it just isn't realistic at all to me. I said this to myself for a long, long, long time. I couldn't live without the autogen either. Then, this past summer, I decided to try a section of Bluesky scenery and was blown away! It sucks not having the autogen, I'll give you that. But, to fly over what you would ACTUALLY see on the ground is awesome, to me. And, the only time it is really an issue is that small percentage of time of a flight where you are very near to the ground or at the airport. In which case, you probably are too busy handling the aircraft to really have time to notice anyway. If you do like it at altitude, but need that 3d stuff on the ground, it's always possible to annotate the photo scenery yourself just around the airport. I have done this with a handful of the airports so far and both, together, are the best of both worlds. Not a difficult task, however, it is definitely time consuming. Anyway, for me now, I can't stand looking at the fake patterns generated by any product, FSX default, GEX, Orbx, or whatever knowing that that's not what I'd really see if I were really flying over this part of the earth. Nothing is more real than photoscenery - with the only exception to that being that it is obviously some amount of time old, depending on when the satellite flew over or the aircraft flew over that area to take the pic. But, as has been mentioned many, many times in this debate, to each their own. We all enjoy different things for different reasons. I guess as I step back and try to look at it from the other side again, I supposed it could be said that it is not "real" to look at flat land all around an airport that in real life would have buildings and trees. So, the "real" argument actually works both ways. Unfortunately, like just about everything else in FSX(and life), we can't have it all. There is always compromise that needs to be made. I think photoscenery works very well in some areas (for example the US SW) but less so in others I've tried, and then there's the whole season thing. I also think it falls down in urban areas where flattened buildings become more obvious. And I HATE taking off and landing unless I have some enhancement or a payware airport in photocountry. Honestly, I have a love/hate relationship with it. When and where it's good, there's nothing better, but when and where it's bad, it's awful. I go back and forth regularly between flying GA in the US SW (photo - a combination of Megascenery X and some Blue Sky) and the US NW and Western Canada (Orbx). For my part, I guess I'm trying to decide if I can live with some of the downsides and add some of the midwest and east back into my flying with the Earth V2 stuff. Unfortunately, like just about everything else in FSX(and life), we can't have it all. There is always compromise that needs to be made. How right you are there! Scott

The question is, does this still occur with the V2 products. Scott I understand. I have seen scenery before where the aircraft will disappear or almost disappear when landing. I remember MegaScenery SoCal had an issue with disappearing runways with San Diego when it was first released and that was finally fixed. The runway looked great from a distance but, just before landing the runway turned to a mud like appearance. So far I have not run into any runways that are disappearing but, again, the addon scenery should be placed above the MegaEarth scenery. If still not seen, then I would look to edit the AFCAD for the airport, lower the mesh resolution slider in FSX, or replace the airport. So far I have not seen an issue with any of the airports in V2 products I have bought. I'm looking forward to finding that issue in post #33 between NJ and Penn. Scott For whatever it's worth again, the MSE v2 stuff is based off SimSavvy which I have and have not had any issues with any runways doing this. Grant it, I've only flown into the bigger airports in the US so I can't comment on a small airfield in the middle of nowhere. But, as Jim says above, as long as your add on airports are above the MSE v2 scenery, you should be fine. I can't comment on MSE earlier than v2 as I don't own any(actually don't own any MSE stuff but, as I've said, MSE v2 is SimSavvy with water/blend masking so I think this point is still valid). January 8, 201313 yr I love photogen but really hate landing on excessively barren areas. That's why I've started making some airports. Paso Robles is just a sort of test. (It's not overwhelmed with houses and forests. But it's also in the southern wine country and nicely located on a short trip from L.A.) Making it has been pretty fun...tedious too. But it's fun. If we get enough quality ones there'd be plenty of places to fly and the off-putting flatness would be relieved. Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane.
