And btw imho REX E+ as well as ASA2012 are more or less updates... OpusFSX really is something NEW and completely different! And indeed the NGX is from 2011.

Sure Opus is new, but it does half of what AS2012 does, every time they bring in new features that are standard in AS they run into the same bugs the Active Sky team fixed long ago.

Anyone use or have Simplates Ultra was released 2012 last minute though, I'm thinking about getting it does it cover all countries?

I'm pretty sure it was, as I got it for Christmas last year.

 

For this year I'm going to vote for the Airbus X Extended. Though I don't have it myself the new Dubai scenery looks absolutely amazing too.

And you can disagree but you're wrong. They still don't have proper upper winds, cloud flashes and wind shifts are horrible, something AS2012 has worked on fixing for a long time.

I don't experience any of that. Please read the last few posts in this thread posted below. The biggest difference I see now is that Opus injects real weather, not global simulated weather. Stephen has overcome the fsx winds aloft bug without the need of additional help from the likes of Fsuipc to calm severe wind shifts. How the two different weather programs inject weather into FSX are mile apart. I think that is were the confusion is between the two.

I was looking over my purchases for 2012 and discovered I'd bought AS2012 on December 18, 2011, so I guess it's not eligible for a best addon for 2012. The only thing I bought that was released in 2012 was Accu-Feel, and I'm not totally certain that's from 2012.

 

I'm not going to count the stuff I bought for Flight, because as good as it was, it's kinda moot now.

I use circle to land on my ios device. Works great for maps.

What do you think DWC is then ? The wind is not generated out of a vacuum cleaner. I think you miss the difference how the two programs inject weather into FSX, and not just upper winds.
