Best Hawaiian scenery for FSX?

Featured Replies

I was hoping OrbX did but sadly no. The only one I know is MegasceneryX and it only covers Oahu and not the entire Hawaiian island. Since I love flying in this area the most, I was wondering if any of you know if theres a complete solution for high quality scenery complete with airports and such?

FS Dreamteam has airports, but I believe it is just airports.

FSDreamteam for airports, indeed Megascenery X Hawaii for Oahu (offers photorealistic ground textures).

Then I would recommend to get photoreal textures for rest of the islands, Newport has some payware ones available and I'm happy with them, then there are also some freeware ones too, don't remember anymore where I downloaded them from but Google should help.

Unfortunately there is no photoreal terrain available for big island though.

Indeed, the whole whole list is:

- FSDreamteam- PHLI, PHNL, PHOG, PHKO, PHTO

- Newport- Kauai, Molokai (and also an addon package for Kalaupapa), Lanai, and Maui

- MegaScenery Oahu

- There is a freeware Niihau somewhere (no airports on that island)

- And don't forget Aerosoft's Dillingham X!

The only two islands without photoscenery (that I know of) are Kahoolawe and the big island Hawaii.

Regards,

Kyle

While it's not for FSX, the best Hawaii scenery is probably in Microsoft Flight. If you're mostly limiting your flights to Hawaii anyway, this may be an option. At least the big island and two aircraft are a free download so you can get a taste of what it's like. Oahu is incredible, but as a DLC purchase with the rest of Hawaii.

Such ashame that there's no Big Island. I would love to fly over Mauna Kea and then head south towards South Point, sigh. The Big Island is such a beautiful island. How can they not make scenery for this? Really wish Orbx would make a complete scenery package covering the entire Hawaiian region.

But thanks everyone. I will definitely check out the recommended list.

Actually there is a freeware photoreal scenery for Kahoolawe somewhere, I don't remember where I downloaded it from but the filename is FSX - Hawaii photoreal - Kahoolawe v.0.9 ...

All of the above the v0.9 is great for freeware and you will find 4 islands here

Put my vote in for all the Hawaiian Islands - I'm a little bias as my wife and I were married there (Maui, Grand Wailea). I'd happily pay top dollar for a quality set of all the islands.

I'm going to reiterate my suggestion for Microsoft Flight.

A recent "aerocache of the day" was the house used as the set for Magnum PI, the Robin's Nest. That house was simply part of the normal scenery and one of the users suggested it as an aerocache.

For those unfamiliar with Flight, the aerocaches are targets for you to find, with hints given and a search string for a browser, Bing being the default if you click on the link in-game. You can use an indicator that shows how far away you are, but I prefer to simply fly to the location and find it by sight. In the scenery, it's marked by a small spinning icon.

Other Hawaii aerocaches included the set for Lost, the various observatories, the active caldera on the main island, and Rainbow Falls, where you can land the Icon and walk under the falls if you wish.

FSX + Megascenery Earth Hawaii is better than MS Flight scenery in my opinion.
