February 6, 201313 yr Author Thank you to everyone. I just bought the RealAir Duke Turbine. Now to start planning a trip in it. Eric
February 6, 201313 yr Great choice Eric, just remember that PT-6s require you to really plan ahead, watch oil temps and engine limitations. Cheers TJ "The knack of flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." - Douglas Adams Tejon 'TJ' Stanley
February 6, 201313 yr Author Quick question for anyone, why would one buy both RXP 430/530W? Looking at them it seems you just need the 530 or am I missing something? As well from doing some poking around on the net it seems like the navdata is out of date for them with the latest being Sep 09 (which I found on RXP forum). Is that true? If so is it worth buying these devices? At 50 bucks a pop I want to know if it is worth it? I fly online 100% of the time. Eric
February 6, 201313 yr For the Duke the 530W is nicer. Larger screen, displays VOR and radial (doubles as the ident feature), TAWS warnings etc. You can get summer 2011 data for sure. PM me if you do get it. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

I only bought the 530, mainly because it has a larger screen and fits perfectly well in the Legacy. I have no use for a 430, really. If you PM Ryan and he sends you instructions on how to update the database to mid 2011 (which amongst others involves downloading and installing +1 Gb of software) PM me for an easier solution. ^_^
February 6, 201313 yr I have all the ones that have been suggested but I wouldn't go so far as to mark any of them as the 'PMDG of the GA world'. Except for the fly high part, the Realair Lecacy would fit the bill, the Turbine Duke might come a little closer to what you are looking for, but my first choice for a recommendation would be the Flight1 Cessna Mustang. I think the Mustang would be so different with the G1000 all glass that it would keep your attention for a while and still meet all the other criteria. It will fly high, fast, and is as realistic as anything else that has been mentioned. You can add the turbo package to the Cessna 337H to get to higher altitudes or have a lower, slower fun plane as is. Then of course, you can shop around the A2A hangar and anything that catches your eye will be a good one. I spend more time in the Carenado Beech Baron B58 than any of my other add ons. The only hold back is not the simulation, it is the real one doesn't fly high and fast like you want either. Whichever one you do choose, make sure you add the A2A Accu_feel v2.0 that works with all addons to add a lot more realistic flavor. Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
February 6, 201313 yr I, too, am looking forward in particular to A2A Simulations' Cherokee. I think that plane will fill an excellent niche between the Cub and the Legacy.
February 6, 201313 yr I think they will do the Cherokee with a choice of engines...the Cherokee 235 will be a little hotrod. "The knack of flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." - Douglas Adams Tejon 'TJ' Stanley
February 6, 201313 yr Commercial Member These are my favorite GA-ish addons (I say -ish because some of them are warbirds and that sort of thing): Anything RealAir has made (w/ Reality XP GNS) Anything A2A has made Aerosoft/Marcel Felde's Katana 4X Milviz's Beech Baron and Cessna 310 (w/ Reality XP gauges) Carenado's Bonanza F33A (w/ Reality XP gauges) I'm not necessarily saying these are the only "PMDG of GA" addons, but these are what I fly the most when I do GA, so take that as you will Very much looking foward to the RealAir and A2A Cessna 172s and the A2A Piper Cherokee renditions coming up. February 6, 201313 yr Author Ya, Ryan I bought the RealAir Duke Turbine. I also bought the RXP 530W to go with it and Accufeel 2.0. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Eric

February 7, 201313 yr Very much looking foward to the RealAir and A2A Cessna 172 and the A2A Piper Cherokee renditions coming up. Speaking of the A2A/Realair C172's, does anyone know what models they're simulating? I presume pre-garmin 'steam gauge' is most likely, given both developers are particularly skilled at modelling that type of instrumentation. Also, although I'm a bit late to the party here, my GA stable includes the following winners: Realair Lancair Legacy (which I've modded to give a turbo for 300kt plus cruise at up to 25,000ft) A2A Civilian Mustang (just awesome, I am getting a lot of enjoyment out of it!) Honourable mention for the Realair Turbine Duke, but I don't fly it quite as much. Plus the F1 Citation Mustang is fun, if you can live with some of the limitations in the avionics it's a fun aircraft too. Mark Adeane - NZWN
February 7, 201313 yr Awesome - can you PM me for details on the turbo Legacy? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
February 7, 201313 yr Are both the external and internal graphics of the Lancair Legacy significantly better than those of the Turbine Duke? How about frame rates? The Duke is closer to what I am used to and possesses a yoke, but the elegance and simplicity of the Legacy make it very attractive.
