Hmm at least two days ago I got an email from McPhat containing this:

"What else is up? Well, we're working on our new website, which should be ready in a couple of weeks and of course; the Fokker 50! Modeling is done, texturing has started so you'll see screenshots soon. Keep an eye out on our Facebook fanpage for that!"

I'm not sure who are involved in developing this, I thought Mcphat Studios was just about texturing, maybe it's coolsky project with Mcphat involved also or something?

That's a shame. I'm not a big fan of these collaborative efforts as it invariably ends in finger pointing with respect to responsibility over things, and with McPhat new liveries are held hostage until their add-on packs have been given proper time to sell. It's primarily why I don't own the DC9.

Does anyone know if it would be possible to insert an INS module in this aircraft?

I believe that the folks behind MultiCrew Experience will be providing a virtual first officer soon, I hope

Correct RudiJG1.

We started interfacing the bird last November. ETA, sometime in March 2013.

And it will be available as free update to all existing MCE users.

It's almost complete. When retired DC-9 Captain Oskar is able to delude himself that he's back to his heydays, will be the time to release.

If you can't wait, and happen to be an existing MCE user, you could ask support for the most recent build.

Hi All,

Glad you are enjoying the product :)

Does anyone know if they'll be coming out with a -40 and -50 model in the future?

No intention as they already jump on another projecct the Fokker 50, they state that even a cargo version will not see the light, too bad as this old aircraft sooner or later finish to serve on transporting goods, look to the 707 727 747 DC8 DC3 DC4 and where they use them now.

Actually, that's not quite what we said, this is what Dhierin said to be precise....

At the moment we have no such plans. With the upcoming projects and the potential of a DC-9 Cargo Version I don't think it is likely that we will do a cargo version anytime soon. But who knows...

So don't count your chickens until they've hatched, you never know........

And collaboration's do work, this is a good point raised though, but i think you will all agree, in this case it has worked, as long as the teams work well together.

It's like Aircraft manufacturers, they don't make all the avionics, nor do they make the engines,

if you have an overall problem with the Aircraft, you go to the manufacturer,

In this case, Coolsky,

if you have a problem with the engines, the manufacturer goes to the engine supplier,

In either case, any problems regarding the aircraft, Espen will forward you to the right place.

Flight 1 is the packager and market place.

In the case with the texture packs from Mcphat, you can go direct to Mcphat where they were bought from if there is an issue.

Did you mean one of these by any chance?

So it's a deal and how much it will cost ?

I honestly have no idea on that,

the boss just put that up on Facebook,

so thought I would sneak it in here.

I'm on the F50 at the moment.

Got to love working interiors, well, someone has to lol ^_^

It's all very hush hush, but I'm sure something more will be said by Terrence, or Espen from Coolsky soon.

What do you mean here about "radio navigation"? This sounds interesting. Are you talking about an INS system or DME? How would you fly to a waypoint, when all that you have is VOR or RMI? I have been flying using VOR/DME and also really enjoying it, but I find it hard to believe that the old airliners always just used VORs.

Boy, you sure do have a way of making some of us feel "old" :O  !! In fact, I can remember when airliners mainly used NDB's only (real fun during a thunderstorm!), and I won't even talk about the radio ranges <_< . With VHF navigation (VOR's or VOR/DME), you don't go to waypoints as they are understood in today's world. But you did have intersections (still do - where 2 specified VOR radials intersect) which were an old style WP in that you knew at that point you had so far to go to/from the next/previous VOR. You did a LOT more "head math" in those days because you had to calculate time/speed/distance values on the fly (pun intended - sorry ^_^ ). NDB navigation was even more of a challenge, especially NDB approaches at night with thunderstorms in the area. But yes, that was old style (for today) navigation and it is how airliners got around. For the most part, they did just fine. Today of course, navigation is a lot more precise and in some ways a lot easier, but it's always good to remember how to do TSD problems, "just in case".

This Coolsky DC9 has me interested. I like the old tubeliners and I've only heard bits and pieces about this machine. If anyone has any further comments about the quality and overall flight dynamics, I'd be really interested in hearing them. Further, I'd sure lend my voice to the idea of a cargo version.
