March 9, 201313 yr That's a long time to keep a gaming computer in this day and age. I've probably spent 2500 over the past 2-3 years. Think of it like this, in your 6 years you only spent a little more than 34 dollars a month to enjoy computer games on a great gaming pc! You should slowly upgrade your system if you have a nice case still. First start with a better video card. Then add an ssd. Then save up for the big purchase, cpu, motherboard, and memory. Usually you can get away with this upgrade without having to reinstall windows.
March 9, 201313 yr I prefer new planes to come with what they really have. I don't think it's the glass that is the problem, but how that glass is programed. Carenado's JetProp for example is a great glass panel. I don't have any issues with the new G1000 equipped Cirrus, but it sounds like cats having an orgy with all the people crying about it in the Carenado forum. MilViz has the right idea. The new 350 will have both panels... One for new computers, and one for old ones. I just hope they don't put a steam panel in the TBM, as that would be incorrect... and suck to high heaven.
March 9, 201313 yr The reason I don't like the glass is because no one does a good job except Flight1. I either need navigraph support or RXP support (so steam gauges or at least mostly steam with GNS530 or 430w). I hope they don't put a G1000 in the TBM... they can put half glass, like they did in the jetprop... fine... but give me RXP support. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
March 9, 201313 yr Why doesn't Carenado contract with that G1000 developer, Mindstar I think? Forgot their name. That would be awesome having a full simulation plus navdata updates.
March 9, 201313 yr but give me RXP support They can't do that with full glass? Anything other then a G1000 in the TBM would be incorrect, unless it's a 700, which this plane is supposed to be an 850. No G, no buy. would be awesome having a full simulation As Ron said from Eaglesoft in another post, full G1000 simulation is not even supported in RW training software, and the cost of developing something like that for entertainment software would cost more then the consumer is willing to pay. The glass/no glass debate is a catch 22, no win game. The "Ok with glass" folks are out numbered by the "RXP investors" and the "Old computer maintainers", as far as GA is concerned. They don't have this debate in the "Tube Liner" faction, as everything there is glass galore. They also get "newer" (post 1960)planes more often. To be fair, and to support the largest customer base possible, it's a good idea to offer both... And to be extra super fair, the standard should come with the steam panel, and have the glass as an add on for a few extra bucks... as those people may have a little more cash left over from the super computer buy. As always, I post this with a tung in cheek, and mean no disrespect to any of my fellow simmers.

RXP gauges in a Carenado Airplane give me the best and most enjoyable GA experience!
March 9, 201313 yr I should add, no matter what Carenado does, the planes in question will need patches, and customer modifications to work.
March 9, 201313 yr Well if they can code the tbm's glass like the malibu's then fine but if its like the 182 no buy I get 30 fps with the ngx but only 20 with the 182 unless I turn off the g1000 then I get 30 fps ATP MEL,CFI,CFII,MEI. Type Ratings B-737, ERJ-190,ERJ-170
March 9, 201313 yr I just hope they don't put a steam panel in the TBM, as that would be incorrect... and suck to high heaven. Actually that is correct. There are older TBM850 aircraft without G1000 panels and older type gauges instead. Cheers, Bert AMD Ryzen 5900X, 32 GB RAM, RTX 3080 Ti, Windows 11 Home 64 bit, MSFS 2024
March 9, 201313 yr not too mention If the G1000 isn't as detailed as the F1 Mustang's glass, people are going to complain about it. but no matter what they will complain with the framerate hit too.. -Damien Damien Furtman Hovering Hellion
March 9, 201313 yr I've got their Cirrus. I like it. Flies well, much better clickspots than earlier glass gauges of theirs. The problem is when they put a G1000 in there's no spot for the RXP 430 (at the least) because as you know the radios are part of the G1000. So what I did with the Cirrus is add a popup for the gns530w. At least that way I can have the RXP drive the GPS steering. It kills realism but without it I'm stuck with the stock database. However, recently there was thread in this forum about someone updating the stock GPS fixes. I'll have to check that out. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
March 10, 201313 yr but if its like the 182 no buy I get 30 fps with the ngx And that is what I'm talking about, as far as programming the thing. They are relatively new to glass, so they will have a learning curve. The Jetprop G500 was the best they ever did so far.. So I guess they are halfway there.. LOL There are older TBM850 Roger that.. if that's what they do, then it's what they do. I believe it went a couple years before the G, and carried over from the 700. Hideous... We'll need a hacksaw to get rid of the giant toaster on top of the panel shade.
March 10, 201313 yr To be fair, the earliest T206H's (like 1998-2000ish) did not have a G1000 installed. Carenado could technically go either way with this one. I am hoping they will take the Facebook poll results into consideration. Here's an example: http://www.controller.com/listingsdetail/aircraft-for-sale/CESSNA-TURBO-206H-STATIONAIR/1999-CESSNA-TURBO-206H-STATIONAIR/1272581.htm I will not buy any Carenado glass products unless they vastly improve the coding. March 10, 201313 yr No kidding. March 10, 201313 yr This is an interesting topic. I think for the most part, the steam guages are popular because of the performan hit from the good G1000 units. I am not a programer but it seems as the world moves forward then Glass is something that has to become the norm. For me, I rarely use any views other than the cockpit views. I read somewhere that the up-coming 350 from Milviz will have the ability to switch off all the graphics that are used up for the body and rear interior to free up computer over head for the glass to use. It will be interesting to see how that comes together. Carenado does produce some nice flying textures but that is, at least to this point that's about all. It is only good business on their part. As long as they can keep the customes beliveing that it is just to hard to do more then they can continue to take the low road and sell a ton of low end cockpit functions. So long as their are 1000's of people who want all things great for 19.95 USD then they will continue to do so.
