April 4, 201313 yr "...requesting clearance as filed." Its that what VOX gets you to say as a habbit, I have not used this program? J u l ia n D i a m a n d i s
April 4, 201313 yr Here's a video although with voxpop and windows 8 my voices are better than his ATC voice, but you can see that it teaches good phraseology and you're not typing or selecting anything via the keyboard.
April 4, 201313 yr I'm creeped out by that male VOX voice. Sounds like HAL 9000 from Space Odyssey. The cabin announcements are annoying too; hopefully you should be able to disable them or at least bring down the volume to a quiet whisper for pureists like myself. Dylan Charles "The aircraft G-limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular airplane. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no G-limits."
April 4, 201313 yr I have used VoxATC for quite some time now, but this was the first time I heard the announcements BTW you can choose which voices to use. In the default package, there are not that many, but some are available for free and many if you are willing to pay for them. Nice, but with MCE you can do hands off voice control as well for both default, RC4 and PFE. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
April 4, 201313 yr The main reason I dont chase vatsim crew is because I have like many invested a small fortune, okay a tiny one...into prime scenery. If it means I have to fly a 3 hour flight from a default to default airport :shok: over carpet brown terrain just to hear.... ....oh well you guys get the picture..:-) ZORAN
April 4, 201313 yr I would like to know if the Vox-ATC would respect the way Ultimate Traffic2 injects traffic. Now I use UT2 while flying in IVAO. When I am flying in regions there is noone, I have the company of UT2... and when there is a conflic with a traffic or ATC, I just press Control+Shift+T and all the traffic dissappears but not the IVAO one. I read that VOXATC imports the traffic from UT2 but still use its one (so it only use the models from UT2 I believe isn't it?). I would like to know: Does Vox-ATC has a key combination to just make all the traffic disappear from FSX in real time (and make it appear again?)? Thanks! Javier Rollon. April 4, 201313 yr Commercial Member vatsim bad habits are awesome.. They really are. Another one is: 'Delta 11-92, squawk 0524.' "0524, Delta 11-92." [pilot changes code to 0524, and presses IDENT] 'Delta 11-92, IDENT only required when requested. Radar contact 20nm southwest of the Raleigh Durham VOR. Good evening.' (to their credit, many controllers do say "squawk 0000, and IDENT" out of habit) I'll give people a lot of credit though. I'm getting fewer people coming from uncontrolled checking in without a position. By the way, if people are confused about the "...request clearance as filed": What am I going to clear you on? A surprise route up my sleeve? Perhaps you were thinking of filing a route, and then surprising me with a route change request when calling for clearance? Your filing of a flight plan means you'd like to be cleared like that. If you didn't want to be cleared via the route you filed...well...you might need to go see your AME for a checkup. "...as filed" is for ATC responses and pilot readbacks. Otherwise, it should be omitted. Kyle Rodgers
April 4, 201313 yr ... By the way, if people are confused about the "...request clearance as filed": What am I going to clear you on? A surprise route up my sleeve? Perhaps you were thinking of filing a route, and then surprising me with a route change request when calling for clearance? ... Well, I frequently clear pilots for routes they haven't filed. For example if somebody have filed a non standard route (generally all traffic flies standard routes to and from the airports I control). I do of course let them know that I got a flight plan amendment for then before I clear them. Sometimes people file a departure procedure in their flightplan, and if the weather dictates that a different procedure should be used I clear them for a different procedure as well. Or perhaps they have filed an old procedure no longer available in my scope. So clearing people for a different route than filed happens surprisingly often actually. vatsim s3
April 4, 201313 yr Commercial Member So clearing people for a different route than filed happens surprisingly often actually. True, but the pilot requesting his or her clearance "as filed" isn't going to mean you're not going to assign them a new route. That was my point. Kyle Rodgers
April 5, 201313 yr Back to the topic "ATC Addon": @Japo32: "I would like to know if the Vox-ATC would respect the way Ultimate Traffic2 injects traffic." Vox generates and controls its own traffic. There is a way to make use of UT2 by way of the utility "UT2Bridge". Here ist a description I copied from a Vox thread on AVSIM: "After installation, go to your VoxATC folder (usually C:\Program Files\Internal Workings\VoxATC X) and run UT2Bridge.exe That will start the conversion running. When it's finished close UT2 Bridge. You should now have traffic with UT2 aircraft. You should set the UT2 traffic volume to 0, or not even run it at all (You can disable the auto run of UT2 by editing the the EXE.XML file in the User Profile under the FSX folder, the same place where the fsx.cfg file is located). Now why did I say that it works on most of the things but not 100%. That is, the Bridge tool would import the traffic and paint and the flight plan of the AI, but there are two things you loose. 1) You can't control in VoxATC the density of the AI traffic to be spawned based on how much GA traffic you like and how much Airliner traffic, like you have in the UT2 settings tool (also known as Daily schedule and weekly schedule in UT2 tool) 2) although it imports the planes and flight plan(s) of the AI Traffic, but it doesn't import or utilize the Schedule. i.e. if you are at an airport the traffic you would see is random as far as time table and not based on the schedule even though the plane would fly to it's destination, based on the UT2 Flight plan but just at the wrong time of the day. Personally it is something I am willing to live with." It works, but the way Vox handles AI traffic is one of its weak points. Andreas Regards, Andreas Gutzwiller
April 5, 201313 yr Thanks! so I guess I could not work with it and Ivao together like UT2 do. Well.. no problem, just was curious about it. Thanks! Javier Rollon. Owner of JRollon Planes for Xplane
April 5, 201313 yr Vox handles ground traffic better than it did but it's like it needs to spawn traffic in a predictive manner as opposed to in a radius around you or when you switch controllers as you tend to fly out of the 'traffic cloud' in short order. You can see this plainly with Aivlasoft EFB.
April 6, 201313 yr Vatsim Vatsim and more Vatsim Vatsim planned events get more ATC than 'random time of the week and day at a whim' flights. because people have jobs, study and lives. But it is possible to occasionally find the 'fly in' events which are always a great hoot. Below is a video showing a 4 hour flight where I interacted with ATC for the whole flight on Vatsim. Trent Hopkinson, 2015 Crewmember of www.mangrove.com.au WorldFlight sim Youtube channel www.youtube.com/user/musicalaviator
April 7, 201313 yr Oh yeah, no doubt VATSIM when its got full ATC and traffic all the way is amazing, can't be beat.
