Majestic Q400 April 12th update from Facebook

Featured Replies

Didnt see anyone post this, but here is a quote from thier facebook page on an update as to progress. Its getting there. This will be great for the PNW.

*** STATUS UPDATE ***

we are now entering our FINAL BETA stage, meaning that the first Release Candidate has been issued and is actively tested by our test team. We expect there will be some more Release Candidates, so hard to make any predictions about the exact release date. We hope that it will occur within a month, but sill cannot be sure about that.

As you know, the PILOT version will roll out first. The PRO and TRAINING versions are expected much later, maybe several months away. We don't know yet whether both PRO and TRAINING will be released at the same time or not. Probably not.
The product will be sold through three distributors, whose names will be announced later. While the prices are fixed (PILOT: 49.95€, PRO: 74.95€, TRAINING: 149.95€), the actual retail price will depend on each distributor's policy and can vary slightly from one to another. Cross-version upgrades will be possible but their modalities will be fixed by distributors, so we don't know how much they will make you pay for an upgrade - maybe just the versions' price difference.

Now few words about the project's actual state. We have ironed out all major bugs and are now in process of correction of the rest. We don't aim 0 bugs at release, as it seems impossible, but we are pretty sure that only experienced Q400 pilots will be able to detect some of them. Moreover, there are several versions of EFIS and FMS on the Q400 and we stucked with one which can be different from what you may find on your aircraft or on photos. In any case, we will issue one or more patches if problems are detected after release.
We received the latest Navigraph database yesterday and integrated it into our product. Many procedures have changed, in particular the approach to CYUL from our tutorial flight - so we have to modify our tutorial - and it takes time, like everything else.
We added two new liveries to our collection : Air Baltic and EuroLOT, the number of stock liveries is now 19. Please don't ask us to make any other.
The website is almost ready. In addition to the product description, list of features and repaints, it will contain also many resources like docs, tutorials, custom scripts etc.

Man I hope we see this soon. It will be good I know it.

Does anyone know what the differences between the pilot and Pro versions are?

Is the pilot version like a lite version or just not insane on the detail?

From what I understand there is no lite version. The pilot version is very functional and detailed , and will be mainstream for most. The other versions are meant for very professional environments with failures implemented and so forth. Someone maybe to elaborate further

Cool.

Thanks for the HU. I guess I just wanted to know if it was going to be worth it to get the pilot version, or would one need to get the pro to get systems and such modeled.

From their Facebook page:

PRO version will add 2D panels, Head-up guiding system, working circuit breakers, more FMS functions, scenario based failures, scripting and some abnormal procedure features like alternate gear extension.

As to FMS functions in the Pilot version: All the FMS functions are included except ETP/PNR functionality, ARINC Weather and RAIM simulation.

It seems that the pilot  version will be plenty for me anyway and have the complete complicated systems in it.

I dont need a professional training version, and having failures is not a must for me, so pilot version works for me.

According to the facebook update, you can upgrade if need be since those versions will come out much much later. Either small fee plus the differences in price. or just the differences.

Anyone know if you buy the Pilot version will you only have to pay the difference to go up to Pro later on?  If not I'll probably just wait for the Pro one...

I'm in the same position : interested in the Pro version.

They say it will depend on distributors (Simmarket? Aerosoft? Majestic?) for upgrades policies/fees. We'll have to wait and ask I guess.

I think they were hinting in that update it will be more or less up to the distributors. I know originally they were wanting to add a fee to the upgrade in addition to the price differences between versions, but was met with great scrutiny. Most likely just the price differences. That would be more logical I would think

Any upgrade fee will obviously be the distributors's best guess; Exactly how much will as many as possible be willing to cough up for the update?

I won't bite unless the FMC difference is big. Are we talking J42 - NGX difference or just minor stuff? If the FMC in the Pilot's version is really "light" I'll wait rather than buy that.

Exciting times, really hoping Majestic will come through! A good Q400 would be awesome!

I am hoping they are true to this estimate and we may see a release next month. Would be nice. I have been kinda hoping on hope for a good Dash.

Another final beta :-)

Don't know if I will get this.  It looks really good and a Dash 8 would be very nice for getting into those regional airports..

PILOT FMS is almost a fully functional FMS. No ETP/PNR function or ARINC weather is not something that could limit your Q400 operations. All the functions about navigation, including 3D RNAV approaches, holds etc are already in Pilot version. The difference between Pilot and Pro is mostly in other features like scenario based failures or shared cockpit.

Anyway, PRO is not ready to come out, it will be several months away and I can't say anything about when the distributors will fix the modalities about upgrading from Pilot to Pro. Personnaly, I would buy Pilot. And then upgrade to Pro. (oops, I have already one for free :) )
