FranceVFR for Recommend?

Yeah well I can see that also the review you saw was written in 2007, I guess by standards of that time the scenery indeed looked rather good.

As far as I could understand from the simmarket shop, the new technology versions are not on sale.

Seems I am the odd one out. I wish I could be positive because I bought all their sceneries for FS2004 and some for FSX. But....

Their sceneries are sometimes incompatabile with UT Europe and UTX Europe. They are also incompatible with FSG scenery meshes. The UT sceneries can be disabled in the Scenery library but the FSG .bgl files have to be manually disabled. My efforts to get support from France VFR over many years have drawn a complete blank. Their website was usually down and if it was up it was all in French. Sorry, but that is the way I found France VFR.

I am genuinely glad that others have had positive experiences and perhaps France VFR has recently upped their game. I might try again.....

I picked up Martinique on sale and I'm not impressed. It's a port over from FS9 with poor looking textures and unfinished objects.

I bought it based on a name. Lesson learned.

You must have bought wrong software or from wrong company.  Take look at my screenshots of Martinique and Guadalupe in my past screenshot posts and you will see amazing accuracy of photoreal scenery of those islands which show real locations of buildings and amazing natural ground textures such as farmlands etc.  Those countries' international airports are very good too.

That is why I love flying past above those two islands to enjoy and marvel at view of realistic ground textures.

Go and look at my screenshots.  Maybe you use wrong settings or something.

I checked my settings and they say I'll just stick with ORBX. Thanks.

DJ,

Show me screenshots of ground texture of Martinique from FL350 so that I can see what is wrong.

Meanwhile, look at this example:

I can give you more examples of gorgeous VFR France sceneries of the two Caribbean islands if you want.

I'm only speaking for me here, but I think that photoreal scenery looks great from FL350, no matter how good or bad they are when you sit on the ground. The problem is just that many - especially older - photo sceneries do not look good when you are close to the ground, which is why I am very very careful about buying photoscenery, and this might also be what DJJose was referring to. I agree with you, from cruising altitude nothing's wrong with it, the scenery looks superb.

FloG,

well I am extremely satisfied with VFR France's French Antilles Collection package.  Apart from amazing ground textures as seen from FL350,  they have pretty good and well detailed TFFR and TFFF airports in two major islands.  I am impressed.

I think that DJ is having problems because VFR France's French Antilles Collection package is designed for FSX before SP1 and SP2 meaning that VFR France's French Antilles Collection package is not compatible with SP1 and SP2 but works amazing with FSX without SP1 and SP2.

DJ,

Do you see black buildings in the scenery that you bought?  If so, that means it is not compatible with SP1 and SP2.

If you're after French scenery then give www.scenerybox.com a go - they have the *whole* of France available in high res. They also have Business Class, which I have just bought which is lower resolution for IFR (but still 4m per pixel). Will be installing shortly.

Some good quality photo scenery can really be immersive when added to weather.

I see some objects that are transparent. As if they were not fixed with the included update.

My issue is with the deceiving 5 star review and nice pictures. The scenery looks like an FS9 port over and I'm simply not impressed.

Your pics look good!

Anyone know how to tell which of their HD photo sceneries are designed specifically for FSX, rather than just patched?

Meanwhile, look at this example:

From FL350 just about every photoreal scenery will look good. But particularly islands want to be explored, that's what the're for, aren't they. VFR low and slow you know.

I have many FranceVFR products, both for FS9 and FSX and usually they are very pretty. But like DJJose i also just picked up Martinique and was extremely unimpressed... Ok, it has lots of Autogen so probabely have to wait a minute for the high res textures to begin to show up.... I'm still waiting for them to show up....

I have FranceVFR 'French Islands' photoreal scenery already for a long a time and it is very nice indeed, even from, say, 3000 ft. But no Autogen and if you're getting used to Orbx sceneries more and more you're going to miss Autogen more and more.. So i thought if i buy FranceVFR Martinique, Guadeloupe and St.Martin/St.Barth. the pretty French Islands photoreal scenery gets filled with Autogen.... Wrong....

I should've checked that these 3 FranceVFR sceneries are indeed from 2007 before buying... Can't really imagine we used to be happy with this kind of really low res ground textures in 2007....

I guess we must've been spoiled to the bone over the years.

I was hoping for a great Caribbean VFR Low and Slow cross islands tour... I'll see if i can catch a ride back to Blighty..

cheers,

jan
