Who is Majestic?

Featured Replies

Ok, so it seems that they have really struck a nerve with simmers with raising the bar. I have yet to purchase, but it seems they have hit a home run, but who are they and where are their people. Is this a first atempt release?

I can't answer the question about where they are, except to say Europe, the U.S. and ? Oleksiy Frolov and Dimitri (SamDim) have been around a long time and have been frequent contributors to our hobby. This is not their first release.

Thanks for the info Tom! Maybe I have been living under a rock.

I didn't know about them either until the RunUp for the Q400.

Seems from some reading though they released a Q300 some time ago for FS9 I think, and it was met with the same love and quality.

After reading old old reviews of their last, I knew I would give them a try this time around. Kinda cool they take forever to make an addon, as I think this one was going on 2 years or something to make.

Makes it all the more while when you get your hands on something of quality and time behind the development shows.

Oleksiy Frolov (Fanda) did a magnificent Q300 freeware for FS2002 and FS2004, which later was updated to the Majestic Q300 payware product, which we still have available in FSX. It's getting a bit dated graphics wise by now, but is still one of the better turboprop renditions in flightsim.

Dimitri (SamDim) has done quite a few very nice airplanes for flightsim during the years.

Majestic have never been ones for blowing a loud fanfare, or mass marketing, but they are by no means new kids on the block.

Their Q300 which I think was released in late 2004 or maybe 2005 was revolutionary in it's FDE and it's sound (maybe less so, the graphics and textures!).

I remember that, at the time, I had been flying nothing but the original FS9 PMDG 737NG, and the Majestic Q300 was released, and that was it; I was absolutely hooked on their Q300; I literally flew nothing else for about 4 months; and studied and researched every inch of the real Dash 8 series (-100, Q200, 300, Q400).

......now 8 or 9 years later, history repeats itself, and I am once again 100% hooked on their new Q400. It is just so good in so many different areas. As well as the quality of the product itself, let's not forget how amazing it is being able to fly in heavy weather and clouds, with traffic, etc, etc.....I have a reasonably powerful i7 system, but still the Q400 is the first complex airliner I've been able to truly do that in. The performance is just unbelievable!

Now, I'd love Majestic to make a nice old(er) Dash 8-100 next !

And it's so refreshing to see the enthusiasm over a non-PMDG aircraft.

Yeah it's very nice for a change.

Interesting thread, for this particular reason I will work with Simeon to bring you guys an interview that hopefully introduces the Majestic team to the Avsim readership.

When I first purchased the Majestic Dash8 Q300, ("Q" stands for "Quiet"),  I met a real Dash8 Q300 retired pilot from USAir that showed me some things about setting up and flying this aircraft.  He said that this was an outstanding and very accurate simulation of the Q300, but only his did have an APU, which was an option that the Majestic version does not have.

I still have the Majestic Q300 installed and will continue to fly it also.

I will be looking forward to that.  These guys build a super aircraft sim.  It would be nice to know more about them.

Just for old time sake... You wanted to know who these guys are? Take a look here and note the number of downloads:

http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2002ac&DLID=143031

And, that was not the first offering. The first offering occurred long before 2010.

Actually it all began in 2001-2002 with Oleksiy Frolov and Fanda :

A review of the freeware Q300 of 2003 (with a short cv of Mr Frolov) :

For the payware version of the Q300 Fanda became then Majestic.

For the Q400 Dimitri Samborski from Samdim design (great freeware Tu-114, IL-96, Il-62, Il-86, An-24  etc) joined, giving the actual team:

In 2010 Oleksiy posted an announcement searching for visual model designers. We applied and our collaboration began (and hopefully will continue). It's a great pleasure to work with this guy, I must say!

We, at Samdim Design, are not newcommers. Being uploading files to avsim.com since 2002, more than 350K downloads so far, several gold medals and a Bravo Zulu award.

Yes, please be on board for a 100-200-300 Dash8 also! :)
