October 9, 200421 yr Posted by Chris Willis:Before installing the patch:Your *.dll that's go to fs2004module should be the default fs2004 one, they are in disc 2 in the MSGAME3.CAB, such as gps_export.dll, panel.dll etc. to be sure, I recommend to restore your original *.dll from fs2004 disc 2 in the MSGAME3.CAB they should go here fs2004module.-If you are using fsuipc already, you should get the latest one available http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html (not needed if you are not using this already)-If you are using active camera already (not needed if you are not using this already)http://www.anticyclone.be/AC2004%20update%20to%202_0.zipand installed their update patch:http://www.anticyclone.be/AC2004patchFS9_1.zip-----------------------------------------------------------------------You will need to restore the default.xml (fs2004autogen)-You will need your CD 4 to run fs2004-You won't loose any fs2004 default or addons texture with the patch.-Read the patch Doc.
October 9, 200421 yr My install hiccupped on the 'display.cfg' file which I know other people as well as myself have modified. The install said that the file was not the original. I hit OK and the install proceeded to finish with the comment 'successfully installed'.I started FS91 and it did appear to run OK. The added bridges were there. But just be on the safe side I uninstalled the patch, put back the original display.cfg and reinstalled. This time the install completed without any warning messages.
October 9, 200421 yr >Also, you need to have the v3.4.0 of FSUIPC. You may get it>from here: http://www.schiratti.com/dowsonIt works fine with V3.3 also.Dave
October 9, 200421 yr Andreas,Read through what has already been posted. None of your concerns are borne out in practice, and the patch is completely reversible anyway. So go ahead and try it.Allcott
October 9, 200421 yr Remember to ensure that your terrain_max_vertex_level (TMVL) is set to 21 in FS9.CFG to utilize higher resolution mesh.Jon My blog
October 9, 200421 yr I had the patch stall with an error relating to display.cfg as others have noted and like them, after clicking ok, the install continued to completion. If I don't have an original version of display.cfg (yes I know before you say it!) can I get another from the FS9 cd? If not, does it matter that I don't have the original? My update install seems to have worked.
October 9, 200421 yr Installation went fine for me. A ten-minute test fight went fine as well. Initial impression is that clouds and ground textures generally appear sharper.Note that if you use the no-CD version of FS9.exe, you may not get all tbe benefits of the upgrade.-- WaltFlying FS2004 at 1600x1200x32WideFS 6.226ActiveSky 2004 2.0 for FS9.1FSUIPC 3.4.0.0 RegisteredFS Force 1.02FSNavigator 4.6.0.0LAGO FSELinksys Wireless Router 802.11bBASE SYSTEM (Running FS2004):Intel Pentium 4, 2.0 GHzWindows XP Pro512MB PC800 RDRAM,8100128MB ATI Radeon 9600 ProCATALYST Windows XP 3.10 video driverDirectX 9.0bViewSonic P95f+ 19 inch Ultrabrite CRT MonitorSound Blaster Audigy2 ZSCreative I-Trigue 2.1 3300 SpeakersMS ForceFeedback 2 joystickNETWORKED SYSTEM (Running WideFS Client & ActiveSky 2004):Intel Pentium 3, 850 MHzWindows 98 SE384 MB RAM
October 9, 200421 yr Commercial Member Hi, Added to this pageBe aware, before installing the patch, your original fs2004 default generic.bgl should be installed, installing generic.bgl after the path will not works, you will have to remove the patch, delete the backcup folder in fs2004 copy the original generic.bgl and re-install the patch.CD-ROM 3. Select MSGAME8.CAB, Copy generic.bgl to the Genericscenery http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimul...9.1_english.aspThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs Kind RegardsChris Willis
October 9, 200421 yr Post patch terrain_max_vertex_level is set to 19. Are you saying to set that to 21 instead? If so, why?
October 9, 200421 yr I also got the display.cfg is either missing or changed error during setup. I clicked ok but it didn't shut down as it said it would. Instead, it finished and said it was successful. When I tried opening FS9, it would open all the way to just before everything was ready to fly. Then, the screen went dark, HD churning for about a minute... then the Tell Microsoft window....I got the original display.cfg from Disk 1 /Game folder and replaced the one I changed in the FS9 directory. I did not retry the patch. Everything works great. Sim seems much smoother and a few higher notches of fps.Question, should I uninstall the patch and reinstal? Thanks guys. THANKS Microsoft for the patch!Earl
October 9, 200421 yr what is the date on that file and or what addons would of change it from the default?

October 9, 200421 yr Tom - here's a link to a discussion in the fsgenesis forum.http://portal.fsgenesis.net/index.php?name...ighlight=vertexA search in those forums for vertex will bring up a lot of hits.Basically, a setting of 20 or 21 will show more detail in the mesh, and now that 9m mesh will work with the patch, it's more important. Here's 2 shots of san luis obispo in calif. Both use justins 38m mesh. Left is at 19, right is at 21. Right, at 21, is more like the real thing.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/93833.jpg
October 10, 200421 yr OK, here's one I don't see on the boards yet;I just installed the patch - didn't get ANY errors at all unlike others. When I went to run FS, I got set up at kjfk to tour the new city and bridges, clicked the FLY NOW button but when it went to the loading screen I didn't even get 1% on the progress bar and waited, and waited, and waited...anyway 5 minutes went by before I force quit. I have restarted my computer, I have deleted the fs9.cfg file and now I don't know what to do!Has anyone out there run into this problem? Should I uninstall and wait to hear from someone? Thanks!Colin
October 10, 200421 yr ati radeon users, do not re-apply the table fog hack. the patch does an amazing job of rendering distance haze and limited visibility on my 9500->9700. i had no idea such lifelike beauty was even possible:)also, it looks like those who used the fs2002 terrain.cfg hack to see beaches may relax. i think i have just flown over a perfect beach in northern africa (where i've never seen one before):)peacevilk
