October 10, 200421 yr Alex, I haven't had any problems with my PCI card. It works great, but I originally wanted the 800 series but it wasn't available yet. I will get it when I can rake up some cash.

October 10, 200421 yr Or just look at the date of creation for the FS9.EXE.. If updated, it will read September 1st 2004
October 10, 200421 yr Try verifying that the Active Camera patch worked. I've seen reports that a failed AC install caused the type of behavior you describe.
October 10, 200421 yr I've checked the version number and it's correct (Active Camera 2004 version 2.0) I will cleanup that backup directory again and retry the installation for the third and final time, if it doesn't work will just wait for FS 2006 to come out.Bob Bob Demarest Knoxville, Tennessee
October 10, 200421 yr >I did not have the luck of others and the new patch to 9.1>does not work on my machine.>I installed the latest Active Camera 2004 patch along with the>FSUIPC then installed the FS9.1 patch. All indications show>patch was installed without any errors. However, while sitting>in 2D cockpit and panning around I get CTD.I had the same problem. I realized the problem, I had not fully patched AC.You need version 2.0+, not just v2.0. I installed the 1.1 to 2.0 update, that is not enough. You need the 2.0 fs9.1 update as well. Once I installed that, all was well. You get the update from the AC site of course.* Orest-~~~~~~~~~Orest SkrypuchUAL1445 DENFOCYFD - Canada Orest Skrypuch President & CEO, UVA www.united-virtual.com
October 10, 200421 yr I am having problems with the ABLSCPT.dll file during installation. I read the posts about reinstalling the factory DLLs and I did that for all of the ones on Disc 2, and everything else went fine, but when it gets to the ABLSCPT.dll, it locks up. Any ideas? How far am I from the finish of the install? What does the ABLSCPT.dll do?Thanks in advance for the help,Jeff Brooks
October 10, 200421 yr I'm a bit dissapointed at the patch. They have not fixed the problem with metric metars and I wouldn't be surprised if the problem with drag coefficiency values weren't fixed either. However they did make changes to the weather.dll.Stupidest thing is that both of the problems could been fixed within 15 minutes, while fixing something else in the files.First of all it does not recognize 9999 as meaning "visibility of 10km or more", but expects to see "10KM" alike in american metars "10SM".... go figure....and the fix? simply change it to 9999... let alone changing the KM to 99 from the current file itself, which fixes it.so silly :(drag coefficiency problems are an interesting case too.If one or more of the numbers in runway drag coeffiency values are "//", it will see the visibility from somewhere else... maybe from the values itself.... geez.Just give me the code for weather.dll and I'll fix it, if it's that difficult to the FS team :(I'm really annoyed by the damned fog under superb visibility conditions.

October 10, 200421 yr My patch experience:I was not planning on doing a clean install of fs9, but at the last minute, I changed my mind. I sat there trying to remember all the tweaks and modifications I made to fs2004 since release... and there are just too many. So I bit the bullet and did a complete uninstall (and said goodbye to my Friday night, and most of Saturday). I uninstalled all addons, then manually removed fs9. I deleted everything from the main directory, plus all the files in the profile directory. This install was truly clean. Nothing was left from the previous install. I backed up the entire fs directory and other files to a 2nd hard drive. If you have the space, it is highly recommended. As a side note, reinstalling many commercial addons is a pain in the posterior. The only ones that went smoothly were the flight1 wrapper installs. Just download the latest version of the installer, and you are all set. So many others involved installing from an old fs2002 install, then upgrading. Some went well, others didn't. Eventually I got them all straightened out. After a clean install, I ran the patch, and it finished very quickly. No problems. Then I began reinstalling the many addons. I still have some to go, but I have all the "must have" ones. Observations:Texture loading times have improved rather dramatically! :-jumpy This made all the effort worthwhile. I don't get the terrible delays when loading ground and aircraft textures anymore. There are still occasional brief pauses, but gone are the big waits while textures appear. This is most notable on planes like the FSD Navajo, and the Carenado Beech V35. Looking out the side of the 2d panel of those planes often caused a significant pause. Now the views load very quickly. There is still a pause, but it is much, much better. Obviously this has gotten rid of a lot of the stuttering. The only slowdown in performance was still when flying around heavy clouds, even with the fsw clouds installed. As for addons, no problems at all noticed yet. Although I have certainly not had time to use many of them at all. I'm not sure how much of it was the patch, and how much was the clean install itself, but the textures load much faster. That alone was worth it for me. I don't get any higher fps, but the overall flight is much smoother (most likely because of the textures). In conclusion, the clean install took a good chunk of time, but overall it was well worth it for me. I just made a flight and instead of watching the framerate counter, I find myself doing things like looking at the instruments and looking out the windows of the plane! ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
October 10, 200421 yr Orest:Thanks for the information. This second patch was not on their web site when I downloaded the original Ver 2.0, so I checked again and downloaded the second one and will install it shortly. Thanks againBob Bob Demarest Knoxville, Tennessee
October 10, 200421 yr Thanks for answering and helping!! Great to be a member of such a community.>Are you using the XP SP2?Yes I am>If so, have you checked that you don't have any MS Firewall>warnings as mentioned in the install instructions?>No, that was not the problem. However after turning the MS FW off everything worked fine. I tuned the FW again to accept FS to go thru, and now even the real wether works fine.kiki

October 10, 200421 yr Hi everybody,Glad that no one else is having any problems. I however have had a nightmare; I installed the patch last night (no problems during install) and when I tried to fly afterwards, the progress bar after you click FLY NOW didn't even get to 1% and got hung up. I quit FS9 and deinstalled the patch - same problem. Deleted my fs9.cfg - same problem. I even went really drastic and tried to uninstall FS9 but noticed that after I uninstalled and reinstalled, all my extra planes (PMDG 737, freeware, etc.) were still in the folders. What am I doing wrong? I can't even delete FS9 and do a clean install! Thanks, any help would be truly appreciated,Colin
