August 18, 201312 yr Ok now for what I read they are really close to release, we got the price and the only missing parts are the manual translated in English and other language. But what I don't undertand is the price factor no discount price for Topcat user. I bought the Deluxe version for 27 € They will sell a bundle with PFPX and TOPCAT for 55.45 € PFPX only 41,62€ why they don't do any discount for old costumer. Maybe I miss some info?
August 19, 201312 yr I am using sim brief now while waiting for pfpx and it seems to be doing the job pretty well. Soarbywire - Avionics Engineering
August 19, 201312 yr It's not cheap, but totally worth it if they bring us the product we're waiting for! SimBrief is AWESOME! But it has it's limitations. Just the fact of having an advanced map with all kinds of information already justifies purchasing PFPX. Alexis Mefano
August 19, 201312 yr As an existing Topcat customer I just received an e-mail from FlightSimSoft about the upcoming release of PFPX. It states that release is expected within a few days. Maybe I miss some info? In the e-mail is also stated that existing Topcat users will receive a discount when buying PFPX at the FSS online store. Bastiaan

August 19, 201312 yr What about Flight Sim Commander? Compare the feature lists of the two products. PFPX--if it's ever released--will be a one of a kind one stop shop for flight planning. FSC is ok, but PFPX more closely mirrors commercial dispatch software.
August 19, 201312 yr I am using sim brief now while waiting for pfpx and it seems to be doing the job pretty well.Yes, this might prove to have been a blunder for FlightSimSoft. They dragged their feet for so long trying to squeeze every last feature out of PFPX that they allowed a new entrant to beat them to market with a FREE alternative. Granted Simbrief doesn't have all of the features of PFPX, but it no doubt addresses simmers' biggest gripe--having to go to multiple places to generate decent dispatch paperwork. And with some people already questioning PFPX's price tag, my guess is that many people are going to give Simbrief a spin before buying PFPX.

FSC is ok, but PFPX more closely mirrors commercial dispatch software. What I like about FSC though is its "connect to FSX" option that will show you a real time sim-connected map of all jets around you and your flight path etc. BTW what is the discount for TOPCAT owners, anybody seen it yet?
August 19, 201312 yr BTW what is the discount for TOPCAT owners, anybody seen it yet? I have no special knowledge here, but I suspect it will work out to make it equal to purchasing the TOPCAT/PFPX bundle for the first time. Regular pricing is 41.63 euro for PFPX and 17.99 euro for TOPCAT, so 58.62 euro for both. There is an option to purchase both together for 55.45 euro, so about 3.17 euro cheaper. So my guess is the discount comes out to be about 3.17 euro...just my thought. Eric Szczesniak

And with some people already questioning PFPX's price tag, my guess is that many people are going to give Simbrief a spin before buying PFPX. I look at it in this way: Simbrief is highly simplified and it is like logging in to an airlines system to receive your paperwork created by a dispatcher before a flight. On the other hand, with PFPX you are the dispatcher!
August 19, 201312 yr ...having to go to multiple places to generate decent dispatch paperwork... But this doesn't really change anything in that regard. SimBrief requires you to already have a flight plan (website 1) and place it in to their website (website 2), so a minimum of two trips...which is about what it was before for me. If you want to fill in the blanks in SimBrief, you still need to find routing to your alternates on your own (another trip to website 1), find appropriate alternates, as SimBrief often picks alternates 200 NM away on a 200 NM flight (website 3), find forcast winds alloft (website 4) if you're on a long flight since SimBrief uses current weather only. And you can add a website 5 in here if you account for the fact that the fuel planning just isn't hitting the numbers for many aircraft and you need to figure out a fuel factor. It's a great freeware product, but PFPX promises (and from the beta testing claims, delivers), to honestly put this all in one place. The only outside sources you'll need for full planning are 1) if you want to use the actual route of a real world flight you'll need that from a source and 2) TOPCAT or similar to generate takeoff performance data. August 19, 201312 yr The webpage has been updated again. Its in a cart, with a buy button, but still says coming soon. http://www.flightsimsoft.com/pricing/ Looks like anyday now! Simbrief is not bad, I tried it, but it lacks weights adjustment, winds, NAT tracks, etc. The pfpx report is extremely detailed. Simbrief is still good but as mentioned is quite a simplistic approach. Will be good for certain category of people for sure.
