That will make these fora dreadfully boring, just think about walking in the street without others noticing you are wearing a 250$ D&G T shirt because it's not written on it! It's almost like attacking freedom of advertising and boosting one's self esteem!

Well, since tapachat was taken down my PC connection is even slower! More than 30 seconds just to get this thread up!!!

 

So,clearly there's another issue in the background!!

While there apparently WAS an Issue  with "tapatalk"   (ref to incorrect file name),  this would appear to be just one of a number of things causing Avsim to have recently become very slow.

 

Recent DOS attacks might have also been another reason  ( My ISP was completely OFFLINE for 4 hours today,  dealing with a massive DOS attack).

 

However, all areas Avsim appeared to be working fine up to a few days ago.

File area is still running at a very responsive rate.

Forum System seems  just as slow, even after "Tapatalk" was removed ?

 

Traceroutes from many locations show no issues, yet even from those locations, Avsim still takes up to 15 seconds to "start" yp serve a Forum page , and that seems to not be that dependent of the time of the day  (ie usage).

 

Interesting technical challenge...  especially when you start looking at the Validity of the html, that the forum is passing to one's browser...   not pretty !  (the reason why IE 8's  stricter syntax checking had problems rendering some forum pages, a few months ago).

 

Ironic, that a forum to support Flight Sim, in particular FSX,  with all FSX's  addon  instabilities,  should itself, also seem to be suffering from Forum addon instabilities...!

I respect your decision however request that you reconsider once the current issues have been resolved. I use Tapatalk daily on my mobile and tablet to access Avsim and many other forums that I visit regularly and it provides a very easy way to easily scan the forums that I am interested in for new content.

 

I will also gladly offer my time to bring TapaTalk back.

That's not good news! 95% of my time on the AVSIM forum, I used Tapatalk on my iPhone or iPad. It's defenitely the most comfortable way to access a forum like AVSIM. I really hope that the staff is considering to bring up the Tapatalk support again very soon!
