August 27, 201312 yr Great to hear you had a great flight with no cloud popping issues, thanks for reporting back Jos! Looks like Vatsim with some luck is back in business so hopefully I'll find some time flying myself tomorrow.
August 27, 201312 yr I am a bit confused...are we talking about cloud draw distance or cloud density value of 12??? Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
August 27, 201312 yr Cloud draw distance Actually cloud density can also be manually adjusted. I remember I had that one at 12 in the past when I was using AS and remember how it helped giving much more convincing overcast conditions but I also remember having it set to 12 had a quite hard impact on the FPS.
August 27, 201312 yr THanks Richard, I leave it at default value of 8 and run cloud density at 12. Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
August 27, 201312 yr What weather engine are you using? If you're using Opus or FSGRW I don't really think you need the cloud density setting as high as 12 and you could maybe set it a couple of notches lower saving you some FPS.

Got both AS2012 and FSGRW, might try and lower the value to 10 and see how we go. My system really earns its money when depicting bad weather with dense payware scenery. August 28, 201312 yr Even though I have been a happy user of Opus, I couldt resist it anymore, and had to buy FSGRW. Very happy so far. What I missed in opus was smooth weather transitions, something that FSGRW seems to do better. I wonder though if its possible to use all Opus camera effects in combination with FSGRW. Anyone knows?
August 29, 201312 yr I wonder though if its possible to use all Opus camera effects in combination with FSGRW. Anyone knows? Just disable the weather part of Opus and only keep the camera part enabled. That should do the trick, I guess.
August 29, 201312 yr Interestingly, it is a little sad to recognise that earlier weather programmes such as REX or AS20013 really have fallen by the wayside somewhat, which in itself shows that we have a thriving and competitive add-on market. August 29, 201312 yr See here: http://www.hifitechinc.com/forums/showthread.php?1147-The-next-version-of-Active-Sky Sounds almost too good to be true, very interesting! I guess if someone could come up with something like this it would be the guys from HiFi, will definitely keep my eyes open for this!
August 29, 201312 yr Interesting indeed. I already decided to skip FSGRW but now I certainly will. (Also because I need the money for the soon to be released A2A C172!!!).
August 29, 201312 yr See here: http://www.hifitechi...n-of-Active-Sky That sounds very good indeed! August 29, 201312 yr Wow Activesky 2013 sounds very interesting indeed. Was actually planning on buying FSGRW this weekend, but I guess I will hold off and see what this new AS has to offer Best regards, Alexander Rietveld
August 29, 201312 yr See here: http://www.hifitechinc.com/forums/showthread.php?1147-The-next-version-of-Active-Sky Back to Active Sky lol sounds promising... Let's wait and see AS has by far the most uptime on my system in the past but first OPUS took over (parked that one) and now FSGRW. André
August 29, 201312 yr Hmmm... Too good to be true? I sure hope not, but this sure sounds like every simmers wx fantasy wish list come true. Scott
