July 26, 201312 yr There have been more people online here in the last 15 minutes than have signed this petition since it was started , I think that says enough . John
July 26, 201312 yr With what code? Well there must be still a lot of knowledge by the former members and code can be written, they did it once. Where there is a will there is a way, given enough money. I just like to see the possibilities even if i'm dreaming, instead of all the no-go's. July 26, 201312 yr Call Richard Branson. He has an airline and has started lots of businesses. Maybe a flight simulator would be a fun project for him to throw 20 million worth of pocket change at. July 26, 201312 yr Didn't Bill Gates started microsoft flight simulator and loved the series ever since? Well, since he's giving so much money to charities, maybe he can give a little bit to the Aces team to start up again. No It was created by Bruce Artwick (bgl as in Bruce Artwick Language), he formed his own company, SubLogic who then sold a license to MS, for FSIII, later MS bought him out (as BAO) and he continued on with it for a while, up until FS5 or there about. There's a HUGE difference between listening to customers and undertaking product maintenance, improvement, developement, and innovations ..................... and re-investing in a market that you have completely and wholly exited; assets sold (FSX), expertise laid off, and even buildings sold! There's just no comparison between what you're describing, and a petition to get Microsoft to say "oh, ok then" and spend $100m on the flight sim market again. Just never going to happen. P3D development is as close as it gets, albeit that it's for commercial use, but as we know, many have bought into the "educational" licences. July 26, 201312 yr Isn't there some really dry desert that you find to rain on? I don't think there's any need for that really? It's a forum, a discussion forum, and it contains views and opinions. They won't always go along with yours....... but that doesn't need to result in emotional responses and insults. Sorry that my comments have offended you, and all the best to you.

July 26, 201312 yr Hahaha. Good luck. Petitions work when the constituency is trying to force the hand of politicians. They're effective for advancing social change. They are not, however, capable of turning an unprofitable business line into a profitable one. The flight simulator franchise was a mere blip on Microsoft's billion dollar radar. Its business model is not centered around creating a market for third party developers, regardless of how much we love our hobby. Our however many thousand signatures don't change the fact that Microsoft's money is better spent elsewhere.
July 26, 201312 yr Commercial Member Why do they need Microsoft to back them up? Can't they do this without them? I mean they still develop games. Financial backing. There's a lot of money needed to take on a project like a flight simulator. The former ACES members developed Infinite Scuba all on their own and that didn't look very impressive. Whose idea was it to create Ms flight instead of fsx 11? Did the ace team make flight? Some former ACES members worked on Flight. Flight was not going to be what it turned out to be until a certain project lead joined in a few years into development and changed everything. Brandon Filer

July 26, 201312 yr But, but...sir, a few posts earlier you said this !?!? You got me puzzled now. Yes exactly, it's called humour. .... as opposed to making personal judgements against people such as "why don't you go off and rain on the desert". Now, I'll make another random contribution to this worthy thread; I'd love to hang around, but I must dash as I'm off to set up a petition to ask the big man in the sky if he can make it rain jelly beans. :Praying: Hilarious that with a thread of this level of credibility, some of you are so keen to attack anyone challenging it's proposal. Over and out. :help:

July 26, 201312 yr Best chance with Microsoft would probably be trying to get them to update the code for stability and using modern cpu and memory. And don't say that LM is doing that for us. When they are done we will be left out in the cold. A new flight simulator would cost what... 20 millon, 40, 60, 80, more? How do you get that money back from a few thousand enthusiasts? Only possible way I could see is with a subscription base like LM is doing. Like I said in another thread, LM may be avoiding the entertainment space because MS retains certain rights to code changes and using it in that space. We don't know all the line items in the agreement between MS and LM. July 26, 201312 yr This thread is making me "cry out in agony". Actually laughing out in agony LOA. You could have 10,000 people submit individual letters through snail mail with a heartfelt plea to resume the franchise, and it would have zero chance of success. A petition has negative zero chance. Would be great though, wouldn't it? It's a terrific venture to follow the progression of MS Flight Simulator. The advances of each iteration is nothing short of amazing. Just think of what could have been. ::sigh:: Dennis Trawick Screen Shot Forum Rules
