Hi PMDG and fellow simmers.

 

After the newly mandatory sign-in-to-read post on AVSIM, I feel that it would be nice for PMDG to maybe croospost theirs updates on ongoing project to another site where you don't have to be a member to read.

I feel that it's not the best solution for me as a reader to often sign in and read the updates, and I think many of PMDG's potential cutsmoers are missing out, also I mention that it's probably not a good marketing media.

 

I hope this not comes out as rude, since that is not my purpose. Neither is the purpose of critizing AVSIM in any way.

You can subscribe to the forum and have it email you.  Additionally, you can check a box for your browser to save your information so you don't have to type your username and pass every time.

 

That, or you can follow them on Facebook.

I didn't say it was that tough, I just find it strange that PMDG do it like this now.

PMDG doesn't do it like anything, actually. AVSIM does. (and with good reason, in my eyes)

If there is anything new, PMDG will post about it on Facebook. You don't need to be a member of Facebook to read PMDG's page. So if it ain't there, and you don't feel like signing in, you're not missing anything (official) new.

Been having a quite a few problems with user id/password persistence myself. Tough, no. Annoying, yes.

This is their support forum. You mean after you get the product you don't want support other than through tickets? Am I reading your post correctly or is this about Facebook?

Umm...  Maybe I'm stupid, but... What "sign in to read posts on AVSIM"?  I haven't noticed anything different.  Whether I'm at work or at home, if I pull up the AVSIM home page and look at the headlines, I can click on any of those to read.  I can also go to forums and read them.  And I'm not signed in at work, as our server doesn't allow it...  so whassup?

That is very strange Kevin, if i open the avsim forum without being signed in, I get an error message saying that either the object I want does not exist, or I don't have sufficient rights for it.

In the past, this was a public forum, where you could read it without being signed in.  For those who didn't want to sign in on their phone or another computer, they could at least keep up with the news.  Now you have to be logged in to even see the content.

Yeah, and after the network attack in the last few months, I think AVSIM had to move in this direction.

I just don't sign out and don't have to sign in at all when I visit the next day

I think I experienced it last night on my iPad.  Hadn't seen it before.
