October 23, 201312 yr David, On the Navigraph website where you download FMS data, there is a button for SimBrief. When you download the key, it will come in the form of a text file. Copy that key and paste it into the required box on the SimBrief page.
November 18, 201312 yr Author That depends, do you have an AAL OFP I could use as a guide? OFP formats take me about 12 hours of work each to implement, so I need to prioritize which ones to add when. Right now I'm adding the most popular airlines used by SimBrief users and working my way down; AAL would be coming up soon but I have yet to receive an OFP sample to use as a guide. WJA is quite a bit farther down the list, but someone sent me a WJA OFP some time ago so it might come sooner than planned.
November 20, 201312 yr Anyone tried simbrief with PMDG 777? Do I need to set fuel factor, or simbrief 777 performance data is spot on? Lj. Prodanovic
November 22, 201312 yr No one tried simbrief with PMDG777? Lj. Prodanovic
November 30, 201312 yr Author I know it's not really my place to comment as I don't own the PMDG 777, but since you still haven't received an answer: All indications are that the fuel burns match up nicely with the PMDG. No fuel factor required. While we're on the subject, I'd just like to mention that the "Fuel Factor" isn't just a way to correct inaccuracies between SimBrief and an specific FS aircraft (though it certainly works well for this purpose)! Real world flight plans use Fuel Factors all the time to correct for aging airplanes and engines which might not be performing as efficiently as they once were. In fact most airlines use a different fuel factor for every fin number in their fleet, based on their observations of each plane's performance on past routes. Generally, the older the aircraft, the higher the fuel factor. For example, real world 747 OFPs I have seen use a fuel factor between P04 and P06, while most real world 777-200LRs use P00 to P02. Since SimBrief is calibrated to the same manufacturer data as real world dispatch tools, this explains why the PMDG 777 requires little to no fuel factor, while the PMDG B747 requires P05 or so (or so I've been told, I don't own that one either). Right, I've gone and written a novel again. Anyways, hope that helps!
November 30, 201312 yr You were a little bit latte with answer, but it's informative nevertheless. I took a shot few days ago: PMDG 777, 12 hours flight with P00 - difference between estimated and actual burn: 200kg; airtime fuel - dead on and I arrived 4 min before estimated time. Damn, this is ridiculously accurate. I have had a little problem with exported route, it was not loaded correctly in FMC so I have had to correct it a little bit. Anyway, it took me 30sec to fix it, nothing too serious, can live with that. I have to thank you for great dispatch software. So much work invested, and shared with other people for free. My respect! November 30, 201312 yr Author Thanks for the kind words! I have had a little problem with exported route, it was not loaded correctly in FMC so I have had to correct it a little bit. Anyway, it took me 30sec to fix it, nothing too serious, can live with that. Might I ask what the problem with the route was? Was it related to the route containing SID/STAR waypoints, or something else? Let me know and maybe I can fix it. Thanks!
November 30, 201312 yr No, actually I didn't want SID/STAR in my exported route, so I made first plan without SID/STAR, exported it, and then made a new one with SID/STAR for operation flight plan print. Anyway it loaded in FMC completely wrong, ending up with airway instead of fix. I'm trying to find a pattern, and what's actually wrong by comparing the correct flight plan I saved directly via FMC and simbrief created one. Maybe it's just an isolated case, Ill try to make more plans and compare it. EDIT: The first thing I spot is an airway. In PMDG FMC saved FP, for every waypoint there is airway entry to next waypoint. In SB generated FP, for every waypoint. there is airway entry from previous waypoint. That leads to cascade effect, every airway change is shifted one waypoint forward and that makes whole FP erroneous. I didn't try to fly with such a route, but I would expect lot of problems. Apparently in PMDG FMC there is no mechanism that would check validity of route. Lj. December 2, 201312 yr Author Interesting, thanks for the report. I'll look into getting that fixed when I get a chance this week.
December 2, 201312 yr I find it annoying that Simbrief will not accept donations. Of all the products its Simbriefs amazing software the tops the freeware list IMO keep up the great work, much appreciated :-) ZORAN
December 4, 201312 yr Author Hi Zoran, I'm looking into it. I appreciate all the support you guys have been giving me, I'm going to look into the legal obligations a "Donate" button would impose on me and will make a decision then. ^_^ EDIT: The first thing I spot is an airway. In PMDG FMC saved FP, for every waypoint there is airway entry to next waypoint. In SB generated FP, for every waypoint. there is airway entry from previous waypoint. I have applied a fix to the SimBrief system, let me know how it works during your next flight!
December 6, 201312 yr Author And in other news, I have recently applied a massive update to the flight maps portion of the SimBrief system. Please see my Facebook preview to learn more: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1422264641340084.1073741830.1392527470980468&type=1&l=c110ca50d2 Thanks,
December 9, 201312 yr Derek, your service keeps getting better and better, thanks for all the work you put into it! "If you can't solve and equation with calculus, you're not using enough calculus" - A wise friend
