August 11, 201312 yr I think that you should go with the 314.22. I've been checking the GeForce forums lately, and it seems that since the 320.18, tons of issues were introduced (one of the issues was that it caused GPUs to go at full load without turning up the fan when they should be idle, resulting in permanently bricking your GPU, and the 500 series is the least resistant to this). That issue was fixed in the latest driver, but that one still has tons of issues on other games, TDR after leaving the GPU idle for 36 hours, and no display on some Korean 1440p panels. 314.22 is considered the best driver so far.

August 11, 201312 yr Author Thank you for all the advice, I downloaded 314.22 in the end but it was a short lived experience as after 20 mins my pc shut down, I am thinking its probably due to my old power supply as even though its a 580w its not the best make in the world. so I have put back in the Radeon for now and will put the card towards my new build for next year. August 13, 201312 yr Has Nvidia any official stand to this question? Are drivers...dangerous? Only if they have been drinking  I guess if they were hacked somehow, but I have never seen that. Bob Officially retired
August 13, 201312 yr Has Nvidia any official stand to this question? Are drivers...dangerous?NVIDIA doesn't care about issues like this, nor do they care about older video cards (e.g., 560ti). i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
August 13, 201312 yr NVIDIA doesn't care about issues like this, nor do they care about older video cards (e.g., 560ti). Nor AMD. Only the HD 7000 series get the new features (like MLAA 2.0, FSSGSSAA with automatic LOD adjustment etc.), and I've found that it takes a lot more time to fix issues on the HD 5000/6000 series. Both vendors tend to abandon older generations, but at least NVIDIA has been backporting some features to their older GPUs (PhysX, Adaptive V-Sync etc.). As for the "dangerous" drivers, this only happened with the 320.18 where in rare cases, the GPU load would reach the maximum even if the computer is idle. Older generations (GTX 400/500 series) were more prone to this because of less advanced cooling solutions, and being hotter in general. No worries though, as this has been fixed since then.
August 13, 201312 yr if it aint broke why fix it ???? Because FS folks mistakenly think that "newest" is always "best".
August 13, 201312 yr What about this. What Version of NI do people usually go with and say is the best. I have latest release. But I notice on places like Kostas guide and the one by Ryan, they don't have as many options as I do, even when I filter. Is there a better version to go with along with the same theory about driver version? Sent from my Apple communications device. William Sequeira

The settings that were missing weren't that useful. i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
