A2A Accu-Sim Cessna 172 may be out "within the week"

Featured Replies

You know it is funny if you think about it.  Many real world pilots would look at the 172...aka a Toyota Corolla...and a P-51 aka a Ferrari.   They would consider getting a chance to own/'fly a P-51 a huge upgrade.  Not many P-51 pilots would say...hey I can't wait to get back to flying the 172!

But because this is virtual flying, and because this is A2A we are talking about...virtual pilots do look forward to going from a P-51 to a 172.  That really must be high praise for an addon developer when you would actually look forward going from the Ferrari to the Corolla LOL

I must agree. It was like this for me too with girl friends when I was a young man.

Lewis - A2A Simulations

Great! I won't buy the T7 (sometimes feels I am the only one...) so I am glad there will also be a nice new plane for me. I can't say I really like the huge interface during the check (I liked the Katana's interface more (and btw I agree with what was said about Marcel!!!)) but I don't own an A2A plane yet (didn't like ANY models they released yet) so I am happy I will own one soon!

It IS a bit odd, seeing that VC... It looks so similar to that 'simple dumb default 172'.... but obviously this simply is how it looks! (In fact, I was surprised to see even the radio's look like the default ones... seems Aces did a pretty good job on that VC!)

Can't wait to fly around using VOR and NDB's only (I stopped using the GPS a while ago).

There is only one thing that almost made me forget about this plane... the annoying over the top emotional voice over... Yikes. Awful. Luckily he won't be included with the plane. ^_^

If you own the Q400 and NGX then get the 172. No point having 2 big jets. Besides one of the things putting me off the 777 initially is the automation. I get bored just pressing buttons and watching screens. The 172 is something I will handfly start to finish over some Orbx scenery.

Mmm, not sure, the 777 is a lot bigger than a Q400 or NGX.   Anyway, it's all just timing really as eventually I'd definitely buy them both anyway!

Aces did a great job on the Cessna 172's VC, as they did for the DHC-2 Beaver's.

Yes I must admit, I was a little shocked when the VC was revealed in that video....  my first thoughts too were, it looks just like the default!....    I thought they could have distinguished their VC from the default one by perhaps picking a different colour set, or avionics fit ..... but I guess the grey fit, with the standard radios etc is reflecting the most common set-up for a modern generation C172 like this one.

I'm sure it's worth getting for the FDE, those amazing trademark A2A sounds, and of course all the pre-flight and maintenance simulation.

I wonder how much this will be.. anyone know?

Yes, I also wouldn't have mind if they had tried something else... I've seen photo's of the real deal but when I compare them to the default one and the A2A one it still seems the A2A VC looks more like the default one than the real one somehow. One way or the other the A2A doesn't look extremely (photo) real. But well, I think we indeed have to blame this on Aces having done a too good job on the default one. ^_^ And of course the lighting system in FSX isn't top notch, making things a bit flat and dull. I do have to add that this plane might make me try DX10 again because of the VC shadows, which could make things look more life like!

Don't worry I'm with you on that one! It's just another tube. Just a really pretty, advanced amazing tube. But tubes can wait for another day. Give me a small aluminum box with wings and 3 tires and I'll entertain myself till the sun comes up...

Looks awesome. This addon will be incredibly informative and educational for armchair pilots why may seldom or never get near a real aircraft. With most FSX aircraft, as long as the master switch and fuel are on, you just have to crank the engine and it will start no matter what. Anyone who owns or have owned a car will know engines don't work like that.

Benign Inclusive Mode:

Hey great A2A are about to launch there long awaited C172. No doubt modelled  to their usual high standards. It will be a brilliant addition to the Pantheon of Great FSX Aircraft. Something for everyone.

Non Inclusive Mode:

What the hell?.... a Cessna 172...an A2A  172. Who gives a **********?  What next an A2A Paper Dart? Modelling in excruciating detail...the world’s dullest aircraft. I know these guys have to put food on the table (and links to Flight Schools/ Oil Companies help) ... but a C172 ?

How much time was spent developing this? Time that could have been spent developing ....a Mosquito.

Do we want to fly at 400kts   50 ‘ above the ground?

Do we want to climb at 2,500 fpm?

Do we want to low level strafe trains, submarines, or bomb Gestapo Headquarters?

Do we want to shoot up V1 bombs?

Do we want to carry the same bomb load as a B17 (yes folks you heard it right) with a crew of two and no armament?

Do we want to do all this to the sound of STEREO MERLINS ?

No.... of course not. We want to plod around the circuit at barely 90 kts , with crap cockpit visibility and complete control disharmony?

(Apologises for rant)
