A2A Accu-Sim Cessna 172 may be out "within the week"

Featured Replies

No.... of course not. We want to plod around the circuit at barely 90 kts , with crap cockpit visibility and complete control disharmony?

LOL

Just as it is big fun being able to fly planes in FSX which we will never ever be able to fly in real life, it's also real fun being able to fly planes in FSX which you CAN fly in real life (and a lot of people have flown in the C172!). So I understand why A2A (and also RealAir) came up with this idea.

Hey great A2A are about to launch there long awaited C172. No doubt modelled  to their usual high standards. It will be a brilliant addition to the Pantheon of Great FSX Aircraft. Something for everyone.

What the hell?.... a Cessna 172...an A2A  172. Who gives a **********?  What next an A2A Paper Dart? Modelling in excruciating detail...the world’s dullest aircraft. I know these guys have to put food on the table (and links to Flight Schools/ Oil Companies help) ... but a C172 ?

How much time was spent developing this? Time that could have been spent developing ....a Mosquito.

Do we want to fly at 400kts   50 ‘ above the ground?

Do we want to climb at 2,500 fpm?

Do we want to low level strafe trains, submarines, or bomb Gestapo Headquarters?

Do we want to shoot up V1 bombs?

Do we want to carry the same bomb load as a B17 (yes folks you heard it right) with a crew of two and no armament?

Do we want to do all this to the sound of STEREO MERLINS ?

No.... of course not. We want to plod around the circuit at barely 90 kts , with crap cockpit visibility and complete control disharmony?

(Apologises for rant)

Speak for yourself..........I want to!

I have plenty of 172 hours and this is a chance to have something replicated in the sim to a level not seen before.

So yes, I am excited about this release.

Everybody loved the A2A Cub - not exactly a speed demon was it?

It's not about fun, it's not about real fun being able to fly planes in FSX which you CAN fly in real life. It's all about realism and for the first time ever, you can learn to fly C172 properly, with all maintenance details, tweaks and stuff. For a simmers sake, C172 is the most popular single prop training airplane in the world, and most successful mass-produced light aircraft in history, and you will be able to virtually fly it thanks to A2A.

Not all simmers have an access to the real C172 you know.

Great! I won't buy the T7 (sometimes feels I am the only one...) so I am glad there will also be a nice new plane for me. I can't say I really like the huge interface during the check (I liked the Katana's interface more (and btw I agree with what was said about Marcel!!!)) but I don't own an A2A plane yet (didn't like ANY models they released yet) so I am happy I will own one soon!

It IS a bit odd, seeing that VC... It looks so similar to that 'simple dumb default 172'.... but obviously this simply is how it looks! (In fact, I was surprised to see even the radio's look like the default ones... seems Aces did a pretty good job on that VC!)

Can't wait to fly around using VOR and NDB's only (I stopped using the GPS a while ago).

There is only one thing that almost made me forget about this plane... the annoying over the top emotional voice over... Yikes. Awful. Luckily he won't be included with the plane. ^_^

You are not the only one. I love the NGX but 777 is something for winter maybe. This video is amazing, this guy must voice over porn in his free days lol.

Wonder what Realair can do to make their product unique, if this is as good as expected then there won't be space for two of them.

I love the Katana system, but I fell out with its top speed and think the engine sound set is poor. So this 172 is right up my street. Is it out soon? I need to go check.

Does feel that way sometimes, doesn't it?  But no, you're not the only one.

I truly appreciate the quality of what PMDG do, but I don't have much desire to drive flying buses, uh, mailing tubes, er  those airline thingies.  No right or wrong to it, I just don't.

Hey, maybe I should go on the PMDG forum and do a rant about how good a GA plane PMDG could make if only they didn't waste their time on those silly mass people mailers.  I'm sure the boys there would all feel very enlightened by my comments and would get right on board with me in support.  :-)

All in good fun, guys...

What would be cool is an iPad app for all those preflight screens to sit on.

Can't wait for this one either... I have the Spitfire, I have the Mustang, the J3 Cub, the P-47... I want to pick up the P40 at some stage... Given the way they have been raising the bar with each new release, I couldn't stop myself if I tried from picking up the latest release...

I am not so sure about the F104/F4 in development, but the Cherokee is also a no-brainer for me...

For me: Carenado or A2A... well I know who wins for me...

I agree the 172 doesn't exactly have the heart pounding thrill of a big warbird.  There is no big V-12 or radial up front.  Heck I can even think of more exciting planes powered by the same Lycoming IO-360.  The 172 wont win any races or put on any exciting aerobatic shows.

However it is the 172.  Many pilots including myself got their wings in the old Slowhawk.  It is a special plane for many and I expect there will be many repaints done for it.  The majority of my logbook is filled with 172 flight time.  Personally tho, I am more interested in planes that aren't in my logbook.  And of the planes in my logbook, I usually had more 'fun' in the higher performance aircraft such as the Piper Comanche.   I have only a few hours in a Cherokee so I am actually more interested in flying it, especially the Cherokee 235.

I do expect A2A will really give us the experience of the 172s limitations, such as why you shouldn't  attempt to take off with 4 adults on a hot day at a high elevation airport :P

I'm personally interested in any aircraft that is simulated well, with equal attention to visuals, sound (often neglected), flight characteristics and good PC performance.       Whether it's a Cub or Concorde, if it has that kudos, then I'm in!

A2A aircraft in the past definitely deliver that X-Factor of feeling very real, and this one looks like it will reach even higher standards.

Every single switch, knob and lever features a unique sound recording of that exact unit with the real aircraft  - that's commitment!

I agree it will be modeled accurately I am sure. Now if it was a 337 I think I would get it. I learned in a J3 but had many hours in the barn door as well, but a 150.

There are just so many out there I am tired of looking at the panel LOL.

There isn't a SINGLE "barn door" modeled with real systems detail for FSX.

Did you ever get the A2A Mustang we discussed a while back?

I'm with you, Dave.  I have many aircraft in my FSX hangar that I have no interest in real life.  Any company that produces an advancement in the simming experience has my support.   A2A and PMDG (and a few others) stretch and tear the envelope with every new release.  I'm old enough to appreciate the advancement of the computer from the very first days, and it still amazes me what can be done.
