I didn't see anything wrong with what he said, fact remains FS9 is a better gateway to simming than FSX purely because of the more casual and less hardware dependant nature of it. Then if people decided they liked it enough to take it further, FSX is there. That's the way more people will find FSX and thus keep the developers of payware in business.

I guess I missed something ... who in this thread said FSX is dead? OP's topic was Future of FSX.

Sorry I should have been clearer, I didn't mean specifically this thread, but you read it more and more throughout the forum these days. It's frustrating to keep reading things like that, when there is no evidence what so ever that 3rd party support has dwindled the slightest bit. In fact more and more products have been added that greatly increase the sim's capabilities from where it started. With the fix to DX10, it breathes even more live into it!!

Thanks

Steve's fixes will be a game changer for all FSX DX9 users, Jim was just sarcastic.

I am one of few who is actually beta testing a new DX10 tool which converts all scenery into DX 10 compatible on the fly.

Dx9 is history for me since the beginning of the year... "en of quote

After all these changes if everyone of us ask and buy DX10 compatible add on from developers FSX will see more great years ahead, developers WILL make all their add on 100% DX10 compatible if that's the only one you (we) are welling to buy (unless you are using window XP), I have a Carenado plane that is DX10 compatible but without VC shadows...bummer, I bet they will make a patch on all their planes if enough peoples ask for it or are welling to buy them only if they are 100% DX10 compatible

So, using DX10 will be a lot better compare to DX9, not only on visual but also in immersion, less demanding on the CPU and more on the GPU. That will be in itself a more stable FSX platform, IMHO no need for P3D.

No way man, no way.

I also love DX10 and the way it makes my FS9 stuff unusable, so long live DX10! The future is now!!

I wonder if my FS9 stuff will work in future simulators? I sure hope so because it will draw users forward as they move from one sim to the next. Does anyone know if you can convert DX9 stuff to DX11?

Do you know if enbseries will be compatible with dx10?

Jacob

Do you know if enbseries will be compatible with dx10?

I don't know.

Do you know if enbseries will be compatible with dx10?

Quite unlikely. The base for ENB is I think DX9, if not mistaken...

Ah, sticking with dx9 then..

Jacob

Definitely not, Enbseries require a modified d3d9 dll file, so DX10 would not work with it. There would have to be a new enbseries version, that used a DX10.dll for that to work

Thanks

+1 somebody would have to make one, if enough use DX10 a dev. may want to make some quick $$ and built one?

All true, Alain. I am also one of Steve's beta tester's - and yes - I've mentioned this several times already - the fixer includes commercial Airliner VC cockpit shadows, and also adds proper cockpit shadowing for non-legacy aircraft (Carenado, for e.g) which have been created without shadowing.

And I have only flown DX9 once or twice for testing comparisons since last July!

DX10 with the Fixer (now at 3.9 in beta, transitioning to pre-release) is very much superior version of FSX, and I will predict that there will be a smooth and steady transition to DX10 following the Fixer's release.

Just an observation, Jim.
