August 31, 201312 yr Dear PMDG, I love thé realism or your products and the lengths you go to ensuring quality releases. I have a question relating to potential commercial use products. My question is simple, as a real world pilot simulator sessions can be pricey. Are PMDG going to release any of there products as commercial use only products? The wall street journal hinted at your goal to do that for airlines and pilots. Also RSR has mentioned commercial use before but no mention since of products that can be used in such a way. I am sorry if this question is premature. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Kind regards Duncan Odgers
August 31, 201312 yr I would be very surprised if you get a definitive answer, PMDG are normal quite reserved around there business plans. Ian R Tyldesley
August 31, 201312 yr Commercial Member Duncan, I am not attempting to speak for PMDG at all, however I do have experience in CBT's for commercial use in airlines. If you are saying you are type rated on the 777 and looking for something to use in preparation for your sim sessions then theirs nothing stopping you from using the PMDG 777 to brush up on certain procedures, just understand any limitations and use it for what it is, no need to worry about any commercial license. I even know A330 F/O's that have sworn by the FS9 PSS airbus to brush up before a session. if you are talking about your airline using a product for official ground school training then that's for your airlines training dept to worry about Rob Prest
August 31, 201312 yr Individual pilot's study sim at home for some extra revision, easy. Up to the individual pilot to buy. Pilot then gets a computer program that contains a simulation of the aircraft systems. Actual certified training? harder... has to be certified by the aviation authority (ie FAA CAA CASA etc depending on country). Certification costs lots of money, and we're talking multiple thousands there. We know that PMDG don't officially support P3D because of the EULA (P3D is for training and not "entertainment", PMDG is for "Entertainment".) I can imagine that turning it into a certified training system would do 2 things:1: Make the price tens of thousands per copy 2: Make it fit the P3D EULA in entirety. The Entertainment/Flightsim nut product doesn't fit that profile currently, and is an entertainment product. (A very educational and accurate one). I'd even go as far to say that there wouldn't need to be any significant changes to the product if it was certified for training. Only to the price! September 1, 201312 yr If OP would read this article in the Wall Street Journal: http://m.us.wsj.com/articles/BL-234B-2220 it sheds a bit of light on PMDG goals for the future with regards to professional products. If Robert is quoted correctly, that is.

September 1, 201312 yr Ok, I have sent a request for information in this regard back in April, and July, and yet again today to ifo@..... with no reply. Is there a better way of contacting PMDG? Thanks. Waleed N
September 1, 201312 yr Commercial Member Waleed, She forwarded your emails to me and I have replied to you more than once. I don't have the email in front of me, but as I recall it: You may not use an FSX product for your intended purpose. We are not yet ready to discuss or license what you need. Robert S. September 1, 201312 yr PMDG has benefited from the home consumers over the years. Without the home-simmer, PMDG is pittance. They are the foundation which allowed PMDG to graduate to Boeing and other commercial pipelines. They won't forget about the little man. If they do, well, look up the definition of "shameful". Ah OK, thank you for the reply, the infamous spam folder must have been the recipient. I was actually looking to use the software with Lockheed prepared commercial licenses for the trainers. Hopefully someday if your policy changes, we can talk, as i believe your attention to detail goes way beyond anything else out there. Again, thanks for the reply at this busy time for you, and looking forward to the T7's release for my personal use. Waleed N

That's probably never going to happen unless one buys the other, then you might have a chance. \Robert Hamlich/
September 3, 201312 yr Robert H., I am not looking at it for personal use, but rather for commercial application. Waleed N
