Just a addon to my post. I noticed when I used Virtual United Kacars I had a large amout(better than 100) of landing lights on and off during the entire flight. The flight posted above was with smartcars flying for Airhaul.

Unless you saw the handle physically moving, I wouldn't worry about it.

Whatever acars you're running isn't setup to read all the special coding traffic that happens behind the scenes.

Why do these ACARS apps even track this stuff? I'm quite certain real ACARS doesn't send a message back to dispatch every time a pilot deploys speedbrakes. The maker of the ACARS app will have to filter this out - it's part of how our flight dynamics and FBW stuff works internally. Will not be "fixed".

Because they're attempting to provide metrics of pilot "quality" by dinging you for random things that, when used at the right time, actually make you a better pilot.

 

One needs to look no further than those stupid "TOP TOUCHDOWN RATE LOL ZOMG" boards to see they don't have a clue...

Those landing rates are so inaccurate too - makes me laugh.  I love my VA's ACARS - time out, time off, time on, time in.  Landing rate is got but not enforced, diversions and failures possible, online and offline flights.

 

I fly for -fun-.  If my VA wanted to "punish" me, I wouldn't fly it.

A couple of experienced simmers actually convinced a VA I was flying for to ditch this metric, and use something more "realistic" - in the end they made a system tracking your TD point! That was cool. Lots and lots of long landings in the beginning, lets guess why :D

haha - nice!  Yeah, I like how I had a mini-rant on touchdown rates, and then went on to post a supplementary video tutorial for the NGX where I floated a good third of the way down the runway in an effort to not completely plant the thing on the ground.  At least I made the last high speed, with plenty of runway left?
