Wind flex on 777

Featured Replies

The wind flex is way too much.  I have looked on the you tube and they don't looked as flexed as much as the PMDG one.  Not sure what anybody else thinks?

You are the only one, that I can recall, who has made this claim. The pilots who are on the Tech And Beta teams who fly the 777 for a living have no issue with the wing flex.

Ok,thanks Pete.

I also mentioned in another thread I felt it seemed exaggerated. No, I don't work on the 777 for a living but I have spent a lot of time around them and never noticed the wing flex THAT much when they are coming in. I trust PMDG that they programmed it right though.

I am sure you realize that PMDG modeled the long range version, which has different wings than the -200 and -300, right?

Also do you have any idea the passenger and fuel loads of these airplanes you are watching landing, compared to what you load up in the sim?

And to the OP, what is "wind flex?"

I'm sure for that one PMDG have measured it by the centimeter...

Ahhhh, the YouTube defense...

Probably looks exaggerated because of the extra length on the wing, and a perspective illusion from the raked tips.

I am sure it depends even how much fuel u have in the wings

I remember when PMDG start to show us the beta development pics and some people says that was not too much of wing flex...everybody has his point of view...for me is just the right wing flex!!

I saw a documentary on the R&D of the 777 some years ago. They showed the test of the wing strength by bending it until it snapped off, and it was violent. Anyway, the wingtip flexed upward 17 feet before it broke.
