Is there any tutorial with perfect setting available?

So what has changed with the 777 that some folk seem to get VC jet shadows?

Any word from PMDG on this? Is it related to the recently released Service Pack perhaps?

I have Steve's DX10 fixer + FSX + PMDG 777. Can anyone inform me what settings to apply please?

Hi Antoine: It starts with the manual, Chapter 8, page 49 for the general information re shadows, and more specifically - page 55, where exactly what you need to do is explained.

Pay particular attention to #3 on this page, as it mentions the DX10 ToolBox, and this means reading (just six lines and a pic) Chapter 20 - page 99, where you will actually make a change to the aircraft's interior.mdl file, so that the shadows are turned on for the aircraft.

If you still have problems, come back here and we can do it step by step.

All the Best,

pj

thank you pj, it works!

it was the tweak with the toolbox that did the trick.

What mdl file do you use for the PMDG777 ? I tried the vc mdl file but that doesn't seem to do the trick ...

You need to select the file per this doc, Eddy, as well as make sure the tick-boxes inside FSX ar ticked as well - ok!

Thanks Paul,

as I understand there are no int.-models for the PMDG 737 and 777, only vc-models, therefore no shadows ...  :(

If you look on the previous page of this thread, I have the 777 with shadows... On another note, I have the PMDG737. When I was flying a night flight, I noticed that the overhead dome light has a very specific radius. It creates a realistic oval of light across the FMCs and the rest of the cockpit was reasonably dark. I'll see if I can post a screenshot of what I'm talking about....

Edit: Not sure if this is a product of the DX10 fixer but look at the oval of light on the FMCs and above the cargo fire test buttons.

does Ezdok interfear with this? i've followed the steps in the manual and what others have posted here and cant seem to get what cory has achieved..everytime i move the camera the shadows move with the camera and disapear.

EDIT: seems if i have HD shadows checked the VC shadows dont work and move when the camera moves, but when HD shadows are unchecked they work just fine..yet look very distorted and not like the pictures in the previous page..weird.. is there a way to fix this?..im using version 2.4 of the fixer

Thats why I'm back at 2.3 ;-)

Well .. I'm sorry to say I've just joined the "no VC shadows in my NGX with Fixer 2.4" club.

I re-applied the mdl fix in DX10 Toolbox (just to be sure), then tried every combination of HD Shadows on/off, "Force VC walls", debug shader versions.

No luck.

I found I had to set the Debug shadow version to 4 to get VC shadowing to work in my Aerosoft A318/A319, but no luck with this setting for the NGX.

If anyone *does* get them to work in the NGX, I'd be grateful if they could post *all* the pertinent settings so I could have a go!

UPDATE:

On the 777 (works!):

DX10 Toolbox option used

HD Shadows checked (set to Airliners - 30)

Debug Shadows Version 4 or 5 (didn't test below 4)

On the 737 NGX, I can't get any VC shadowing at all - no matter what I try!

There is no shadowing on the 737 NGX, Adam - only the 777 has cockpit shadowing.
