Is it worth waiting for a patch/update?

Featured Replies

I agree i have much better frames than in the NGX but my worst thing happeing still is the pauses sometimes up to a couple of hours and sometimes unrecoverable.

Theres no CTD or OOM just that it hangs.

Kind regards

No issues for me. When I start having performance issues, it usually because of something other than the T7 such as my CFG or Inspector being changed. I've only had one CTD with it, which was caused by Squawk Box so it really isn't even worth mentioning (even though I did?).

I have no major issues except some of the configurations on the FMC don't seem to stick, like the radio settings which have to be manually edited in the cfg file.

I just wish you guys issued a patch fixing all there is to fix right now, the ILS problem is very annoying...

I've probably flown more than 50 complete flights with the 777 now. No CTD or performance glitches - quite on the contrary, the PMDG T7 runs smooth as silk!

I have FPS set at 30, use NI, have ONLY DEFAULT FSX scenery, and edit DLL.XML to disable other modules not required ( A2A, Aerosoft ) when flying the T7, although I just started doing this a few days ago, and before that never had any problems running the simulator.

Presently I consider FSX more as a platform to run a great simulator named PMDG NGX-T7... It's a graphics platfom for that sim, I demand just the basic features from it. Most of the time I am scanning inside of the cockpit, FMC... I look outside just for takeoff, approach, landing or when something worth the look appears on my TCAS.

I seldom switch to outside views ( as a devoted ELITE user and RL glider pilot I have long learned that aircraft are supposed to be flown from the inside, preferably the cockpit..., plus I never really understood why some guys dream of / have a mirror on the ceiling above their beds... )

Nuno, what ILS problem?

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

Still no problems on my end aside some stuttering during taxi (which is fixed by removing the mouse cursor from the screen).

There are issues with that state.

Doesn't tune the ILS correctly, you have to DELETE the frequency so it sets the correct one when on an ILS APP.

Ah! Ok Nuno, Thx! Came across that situation a few times indeed, but sometimes it works ok, at least at LPPT...

I don't really see WHY you'd wait.

1. The price probably won't drop, given PMDG's track record.

2. We know the hotfix/SP is coming.

3. The T7 is very, very flyable right now. There are some small issues to take care about, but nothing significant, in my opinion.

4. It is, without a doubt, one of the very best airline simulations available today. You're really missing out!

I don't have problems with FPS, only bad stutters, when on the ground!!! You can see I have a powerful PC, no hard feelings, but CS 767 is butter smooth, I hate to have good performance from CS and high stutters from PMDG. The only thing PMDG should do is remove the stutter. NGX is smooth!

You're not really comparing CS "performance" to PMDG performance, are you?

CS does some quite nice visuals... And that's about it. PMDG does some quite nice visuals too... And everything underneath.

Apples and oranges, really.

Regarding frame rates:

I have a Core 2 Duo 2.93GHz basic Dell Optiplex desktop.  With only 4GB of RAM and Windows 7 64bit, I was nervous about the making the leap to PMDG.  To make matters worse, I have a low-end Nvidia GeForce 210 graphics card driving two monitors!

That said, with minimal common sense "tweaking" to fsx.cfg, I get 30FPS with zero clouds, day or night, even with 5-10 VATSIMmers around.  As soon as you add a cloud layer, my Nvidia card struggles.

The sim has been rock solid for me, no crashes, no OOMs nothing.  I run stock scenery, REX Essentials for textures and FSRealWX for weather.  DX9 also...nothing special.

I'm sure if I added a ton of payware HD airports it would kill, but I'm convinced it's my video card holding me back.  I've tried all of the different tweaks you could think of for the GeForce 210 card, but there's no fixing in software what the board lacks in hardware.

If you machine is having problems with framerates, I'd look to the video card first, RAM and processor second, FSX.cfg tweaks third.

The eye opener for me?  I swapped out my 23" monitor for an "old skool" 17" LCD running at 1280x1024.  My framerates doubled and in most cases locked at 30.  Swap the 23" LCD running at 1920x1080 and frames dropped to 12-15 from 25-30. Video card for sure...

No, I don't compare CS with PMDG. What I wanted to say is that CS is well known for very bad performance.

What I said is that I have 30 FPS with PMDG and with CS, but CS is butter smooth and PMDG 777 is stuttering on ground. Is something there that is causing problems and I don't understand what, I also have PMDG 737 and is also butter smooth!

Good point, Albert!

If even a performance-heavy CS 767 is stutter-free, while the PMDG T7 is not - that's something worth mentioning/thinking about.

Unfortunately I can't confirm your findings, though?!? I get a smoother experience in the T7 (with low frame rates, depending on scenery) than in most other aircraft.
