October 11, 201312 yr Author imho majestic dash8 q400 > pmdg js41 pmdg I think also said the js41 is more like a lite version compared to other pmdg products with some features missing and not fully modeled fmc (I might be mistaken) don't get me wrong, both are great, at least in my short time I had at a friends place. But both of us agree that the majestic is the better one of the two. if you want to fly the big airliners maybe also look into the pmdg md11 and the 747 which is pretty cheap right now ($55) ? but there will be a 747v2 in the future which you have to pay for again. but could be end 2015 before the release with the pace pmdg works. there are other great ones out there, but those are on my shopping list for now for the big planes. for the ga ones I'm eyeing for the a2a 172 and realair duke v2. those are pretty far above in my shopping list. also a nice choice since its 50% off right now is the realair lancair legacy for only 15€ which is a steal until the end of the month. even if you don't like ga's you might want to get it, especially for that price. I would enjoy the 747 I am sure, but I am going to hold out for 747v2. The realair planes are interesting recommendations that I never really looked at before. I am much more interested in jets (with the exception of the Dash 8), but I am giving GA crafts serious thought. The Dash 8 is having a huge draw on me with every video I watch on it. I had been looking at the airbus x extended, but I think that might be a slight step down after pmdg.

I had been looking at the airbus x extended, but I think that might be a slight step down after pmdg. well I also started with airliners (when the pmdg 737ngx was released) and usually fly it all the time. I visit a friend of mine maybe 3 times a year (lives in another country) and he has way more aircrafts than me so I usually have a feeling what I want. I'm also have flown airliners (ok pmdg 737ngx only since I don't own much more)more or less exclusively but after he has shown me the majestic and some realair ones I was somehow addicted. He also has the reality xp gns gps addons. With those it feels like flying a small airliner even with ga. I bought the realair duke v2 today and wow its just great, so much fun even with standard fsx gps. Maybe you will also like ga once you started it. especially after you have seen them with the reality xp gns430/530. P.L. TranAMD Ryzen 5800x; 32 GB Ram; EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 FTW3; Win10 64 Bit
October 11, 201312 yr There are so many great addon airplanes for fsx. PMDG MD-11X, one of the best addons ever released. Highly underrated. The MD-11 is a fun airplane to learn, the systems were way ahead of its time. Real Air Duke v2, just came out, same type of modeling as PMDG but general aviation. Q400 by Majestic Software. Wait for their pilot or pro version, will be even better. A2A 172, same as the Real Air. MilViz 737-200. Service Pack being worked on, once bugs are fixed, a brilliant addon. Quality Wings RJ, great system modeling and a fun little plane to hop around Europe in Eagleosft Citation X and Flight1 Mustang, great fun business jets. Carenado C208, I love the original release with the steam gauges, and the option patches, and sound pack from Syncrosoft at simmarket. My favorite GA plane, but the Duke v2 might win it soon Personally since there are so many planes and only so much money, I focus on good scenery and addons like Active Sky, FTX Global, UTX. And then airport scenery like Aerosoft, FSDT, etc that go well with my favorite plane. The PMDG 777X, doesn't get any better than that. Get some smaller addon airplane that you will enjoy and find some great scenery too to go along with it. I took a break from 777X flying since the hour of release to now fly around in the Duke v2 with Mega Scenery Hawaii that was just released. I only need 2 airplanes in my hanger. And the FSDT group of Hawaii airports and that is months of enjoyment.
October 11, 201312 yr Really surprised nobody has mentioned the Coolsky DC 9 distributed by Flight 1; an excellent choice IMO. RE Thomason Jr.
October 11, 201312 yr Author well I also started with airliners (when the pmdg 737ngx was released) and usually fly it all the time. October 11, 201312 yr Do I have to buy reality xp gns430/530 separately? yes, you would also need the unlimited pack if you want to crossfeed them ... but for starters I would guess just getting either one of them would be more than enough if you are cheap like me. planning to get the gns530 in the near future and maybe upgrade if I need it, but I doubt I need more than one. October 22, 201312 yr Try these FREE airliners. Comet 4; Trident 3 ; BAC 1-11; All with detailed and all functions clickable VCs. These planes didn't have FMCs, so their semi automatic autopilot and ILS approach system have to be learned, but they are authentic for those planes. No one-button stuff here! Originally made for FS9 but there are versions for FSX. Never seen better planes inc the paywares mentioned eslewhere. Google David Maltby planes and have a look. cheers. P.S. Did i say- They are FREE!?
October 22, 201312 yr Q400, Q400, Q400... Need I say it again. With you having both the 777 and 737NGX, I think the Q400 would fit in very nicely, it's perfect for short regional hops. And the modeling is just as good as the PMDG products, and with the Pro version coming out it might even surpass it ( they will even be modeling tire blowouts from landing too hard)
