P3D v2 pricing

i wonder that the $2300 one gives you?

It gives you the weapons package and with it the ability to convert Prepar3D from a GA Sim to a Combat Sim.

It gives you the Pro version plus something that looks very curiously like VRS TacPack. :O

On the surface they are very much alike, but if you had read the SDK you can see that Prepar3d's version has more depth in it and of course it has a better integration with the core sim.

From a coder point of view there are a small amount of effective ways to add weapons and VRS found the most logical solution. LM just followed the same path but did stuff their own way.

It helps a lot when you have the source code for the core sim.

Guys, the other thread got locked because we can't talk about which license to buy. So there is no point in discussing anything about this new update.

why did it get locked? kind of silly when the product is going for sale in 5 days.

Has the V2 pricing actually been announced?  I thought it was going to be announced this week along with a bunch of other information on the product.

The mods don't want us discussing the different versions at all. We have to make our own decisions.

Pricing is now on their website.

Thanks, I found it along with all of the release details.

There is a reason the academic version is priced at $59.95

Its the sweet spot for most software purchases. LM are not stupid. You should also note that there is no, zero, nada, nothing, in terms of credential checking when you purchase.

On the other hand, it also accomplishes a couple of things. This is not a game. Its a real simulation to be taken seriously. Thus the price point. So we can be sure that things will be addressed, and improved with feedback and bug reports. Unlike Microsoft. While someone may argue that they could pull the plug anytime, and while true, it doesnt seem likely given all the professional aspects to it.

I think the improvements outweigh dealing with the frustrations of FSX and all its inherent limitations and bugs. Now I wonder how much I can sell my cat for.   (JK JK)

I wouldn't be so sure.  Sure they'll support it, more than say M$ supports FSX, but make no mistake that the bulk of the money Lockheed will be getting is going to be from commercial developers; and you can therefore bet the aspects that affects those particular groups is where they're going to be spending a lot of their time and resources - not to please all of us that use simulation as a hobby.

I'm going to wait and see how P3D handles DirectX 11 and VAS, as paying $200 for another 32-bit simulation is something I'm extremely hesitant in doing.

Purchase the academic version then. Its what 90% of people will do anyway

You know Gerry, you are so down on P3D with the snide comments that im surprised you bother posting.

How about anyone who has kids in K-12? Check! I have 3 of them who all enjoy learning about flying with the sim.

Pick whichever version you are comfortable with and get on with it....or stay with FSX, Xplane or whatever other lame alternative is out there.

I don't understand why this stupid discussion comes up time and time again. Lockheed throw the FSX community a bone and all we get is stupid questions and comments about this. Its insane. Im done. See you all on the other side when P3D has become mainstream and this retarded discussion has ended.

As a student on a Bachelors degree, I can legally and happily buy the Academic version.   Yippee! I knew there was going to be a benefit to all this studying and £22,500 of course fees over the next 4 years!

it got locked because any discussion usually brings out the worst in our community. No such thing as civilised respect for other people's opinions, preferences, or a developer's Legal agreements. So those discussions are out of bounds, period.

There is plenty of information there for the entire community to be treated as paying adults who can make their own mind as to whether this product suits their needs and they wish to use it in the sanctity of their own home. Good for those who do, equally as good for those who don't. The Avsim community is big enough (and should be mature enough) to accomodate both.
