So what will be your next flight sim?

What false information would that be? The licensing issue? That's pretty black and white. It's the leaps of logic that others are making to clear their consciences that is in the grey area.

I'll just list a few pieces of misinformation he has spread, just from the last youtube video regarding the AVSIM-LM interview.

He mentions P3D is not multicore. This is absolutely false, and displays questionable "journalism", spreading inaccurate information without even checking facts. Prepar3d v2 uses ALL of your CPU cores. I have verified this myself during BETA testing

The 2nd false piece of information the was the whole 64bit smear. What does 64bit even do? It allows you to allocate more memory for the software. There is no reason to go 64bit with P3D, it has an optimized memory system which efficiently offloads memory to avoid OOM situations, and even more tweaks down the line for better memory management.

So like I said, take his words with a grain of salt.

And Dillon, Froogle is a journalist who contributes articles to PC Pilot magazine and has a YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/frooglesim/videos devoted to featuring all flight sim products with reviews, previews, etc. It's worth a look to see for yourself instead of taking the word of someone with a financial interest in fending off interest in other flight sim platforms.

Jon, the writing is on the wall.  An example of this is I've never seen PMDG move so quickly to show their support for anything, something must be special about this effort.  They were die hard FSX developers...  So that tells me P3D is the future and I'm happy our hobby has a future outside of Microsoft.  FSX in it's broken state is not the last stand Flight Simulator.  It will get developed to be a serious sim effort and not a game.  Froogle is on the wrong side of this one...

I count myself a flight sim enthusiast and don't really tie myself to one platform over another. I used MS since version 3 on up to FSX (Flight didn't do much for me). I now use X-Plane because I'm enjoying it. I'm definitely not trying to sell it, because at the end of the day, I don't really care what one chooses to get their enjoyment from.

Now, having said that, and as a simmer, I'm interested in what P3D brings to the table, but I can't in good conscience purchase a license. I'm not a student, instructor, real world pilot, or developer. I'm an aviation enthusiast. I enjoy simulating flight on a PC. So when LM comes up with a package that targets me, I will most likely purchase if the price is reasonable. Until then, I'm happy to stick with X-Plane. It just does it for me right now.

Dillon, I would highly recommend you watch Froogle's VLOG on Prepar3D. It's under 15 minutes and isn't the bashfest others are claiming his opinion to be. Seriously.

If your using any sim to duplicate real world aviation procedures your a student.  We all enjoy flying but long as we are trying to land the plane the correct way and not run into buildings for the fun of it or purposely hit AI like GTA 5 duplicates we're students of the craft.  I fly in real life so I know where my qualification will be but all true simmers are in the class of student if nothing else.  Don't short change yourself.  Now if your just convinced your x'ed out of qualifying to use P3D I won't argue with you...

Well, I am waiting for the new screenshots of P3D2 (wow, PeeThreeDeeToo sounds like a Star Wars robot) with ORBX Global.

With FSX and P3D I notice that many people post screenshots over water or with clouds, this always seemed to to me to be an indication that ground does not look so good unless people use photoscenery (like HLJames) when it looks really stunning!

But dynamic VC and ground shadows and cloud shadows seem to be a big step in the right direction!

I don't understand why people go out of their way to trash a new release like P3D, do they want LM to close it off to the flight sim crowd?

Who cares if it is not perfect yet, no FS was perfect out-of-the-box anyway!

Isn't it enough that developers have many more options?

P3d seems to be going the way we have always wanted.

And let's face it - we should all be glad that there is a flightsim being actively developed AT ALL, after MS dropped it!

For now I'll stay with FSX for airliner simulation but I'll test P3D2 when addons starts to update for it.

But at this point, I'll install X-Plane 10 to fly helicopters, and GA. I'm a lover of helicopters and in XP the model is more real than FSX... The Dreamfoil 206 and AS350B3 are two beast!
