November 20, 201312 yr I won't leave FSX until P3D matures and supports every addon i have, including my online tools which are essential. I have no problems at all with FSX, so i'll just watch the crowd go by and upgrade whenever i feel the time is right. November 20, 201312 yr I'm fine with FSX, with my PC it runs very well, but it's a high price to don't use the next generation of FSX (P3D2), a platform that all are waiting from 2006... November 20, 201312 yr Taking a wait and see approach. i'll just watch the crowd go by and upgrade whenever i feel the time is right. both +1 I will never switch to nor use X-Plane, until it provides a comparable experience with ATI hardware that it does with nVidia. As for P3D, like everyone I have high hopes for it, but until it's released we can only speculate. For now FSX does everything I want it to, stably and reliably. The platform we're on is secondary to the experience we have when we're flying our favourite aircraft, in our favourite scenery, with our favourite utilities. For me, FSX gives me my 'fix' of simulated aviation pleasure, so I am not anxious to replace it.
November 20, 201312 yr I enjoy using FSX, but there are certain issues that are making me think very hard about whether it is time to make the move to P3D. The OOM problems are always a persistent threat on my PC. Others will say that I should lower my settings, or not use lots of complex addons, but the fact of the matter is that I didn't buy a powerful PC to run FSX at medium settings. I want to be able to run them all at relatively high detail, and not have to worry (too much) about suffering a CTD when I am on final approach. If LM have fixed the memory\VAS issues that FSX suffers from, then I can see light at the end of the tunnel regarding this. I have also recently started experiencing stutters at most of my large detailed airports. This only seems to have happened since I switched to DX10 mode, and then switched back to DX9 (although this could simply be a coincidence). However, it is one more annoying little thing that is making me think.....is this fate pushing me towards P3D? November 20, 201312 yr Until XPlane is up to where we want it to be, or some other revolutionary FS program appears on the horizon, I'll just stick with FSX No plans to move to P3D
November 20, 201312 yr I will just add P3D2 to my collection, and continue to use FS2004, FSX and P3D1.4 as before. I'm not a "switcher". I like the flexibility of having several sims. That way I can tailor them to certain addons (scenery and aircraft). Aa we all know, the more addons you install into a single sim, the more likely you are to create conflicts and provoke a crash! Smart! I never understand the why guys post how their sim of choice is the ONLY really good one around and suggesting that all not agreeing are morons. November 20, 201312 yr Since I will be unable to run P3D v2 on my computer out of lack of dx11 on my graphics card, I am considering buying into X-Plane. Development is looking good, with a prospect on excellent aircraft (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMRKx8hZjXw) and a scenery (mesh) update (http://forum.avsim.net/topic/412244-x-plane-10-hd-mesh-v2-preview/). We'll see... Andreas Paul
November 20, 201312 yr Probably P3D v2 eventually. I'll still keep FSX installed for stuff that is FSX-only (i.e. PMDG). I'll consider XPX once they implement some basic environmental/scenery upgrades, namely seasonal textures.
November 20, 201312 yr I'll wait to see the performance boost of P3D V2, if it's stutter free and will stay locked at 30 FPS, I'll switch and never look back. I will not keep FSX, I prefer to use just one sim. I will invest my money in P3D as I invested in FSX, I don't care if PMDG and Flight1 will join the fun, there will be others to develop great planes for P3D, with much more possibilites and all the benefits of DX11 plus greater flight dynamics. November 20, 201312 yr Sounds good Between 13 fps on the takeoff roll and a (locked) 30 fps in cruise. Toughest shot (regarding frame rates) was the "panoramic" view here: No tinkering with either DX10 (pure DX9) or AffinityMask (no entry in the fsx.cfg). Settings include AI traffic (MT2010) at 20%/20% and Heli Traffic (Flight1). Weather was, admittingly, rather favourable: What happened to AVSIM

November 20, 201312 yr Commercial Member I will switch from FSX to P3D. Looking forward to the better performance that a modernized and streamlined simulation engine provides. Also looking forward to the extended breath and depth of features that DX11 offers now and in the future as third party developers take advantage of the modern capabilities and am looking forward to purchasing those products. I will also keep X-Plane 10 on my system as a secondary platform and wait for some promising add-ons. I will likely stop using FSX completely once I have P3D installed, thus will not purchase any FSX only add-on products. REX AccuSeason Developer REX Simulations
