December 21, 201312 yr Why not set up a "SNAVE" forum? Anything goes (within reason). We can bring Jim Skorna in as referee (and no offense Jim, because I know you can do this) and set Simon up against those older members who have seen and heard it all before. I'm quite sure that in its own obscure, yet obscene way, it would be quite humorous. Just think ..... threads such as "ASN vs Opus", "P3D vs FSX vs FS9 vs XPlane", "Read The Manual Guys vs Those That Can't Be Bothered To Read" can all be sent by the mods to the "Snave Cave" forum. The mind boggles, but that's only because I am already in the Christmas mood. PS And Jim has final say on the score!  Survivor Series: AVSIM Island. Now on Pay Per View  "For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return." -Leonardo da Vinci (some experts question the attribution, but I'll go with it for now.)
December 21, 201312 yr Oh what's the point of it all? The nevbie that graduates from the kindergarten forum is eventually going to face the know-it-all Americans, the Pompous Arse British, the humorless Germans, and the snarky New Zealanders, so what is the use? Thought after the last thread in which you readily admitted that you had too much to drink, you would be passed out on the floor by now. Your spell checker obviously is !!   And for those that do not understand - that is a little banter
December 21, 201312 yr Survivor Series: AVSIM Island. Now on Pay Per View  My point exactly. Imagine the ratings!

December 21, 201312 yr Wouldn't it be a good thing to stop mocking at banned members at some point? After all they can't reply to this kind of posts anymore. What happened to AVSIM
December 21, 201312 yr he likes to challenge and do the Haka Is their anything less challenging than the haka done than a group of middle-aged white men who've had a bit to much to drink? Gerry Howard
December 21, 201312 yr Ok, back to my normal cheery very serious self, now, with a bit of a dry mouth
December 21, 201312 yr Hi Tom, What was the final decision on whether new users were restricted from other forums until a certain number of posts? When I first started on Avsim, I used the search engine A LOT. I found that I had many, many issues starting out that I solved just by looking at older threads that addressed the issue. I follow an adage that just about any flight sim problem you have, someone else has already had it. Especially when starting out and not using new tools like DX10 fixer, for example. Maybe at the top of the "new to flight sim forum" you could pin a short explanation of the search function and how to use it. That wouldn't work if they were restricted from the other forums, though. Also, often times when a very basic question has been asked, someone will respond with "this has been talked about, use the search engine"....which is actually very good advice, but could seem a little off putting. --Don Don Polidori

It was implemented to prevent a new user coming in, spamming or worse, never to be seen again. As of yesterday, when we created the new member forum, we have removed that restriction. We may have to re-impose it; we'll just see how it goes. The search function was never impacted by any of this.
