I am not sure how the weather conditions can cause the Aurora Borealis/Australis... I thought it was to do with the charged particles from the solar wind and magnetosphere of the Earth colliding with atoms/molecules in the thermosphere...

As the weather occurs way below the thermosphere, I fail to see how the weather conditions can "cause" it...

I got to see it once at altitude, from the cabin of a DC-10 returning to Gatwick from Minnesota... 4 hours of light dancing above us, arcs, bridges, all the colours... never forget it to this day... a solar storm had occurred about day or two earlier, so we knew there would be something visible, but all who saw it and knew what it was were amazed by the intensity...

Next time it's cloudy i.e.(weather conditions!) I bet you won't be able to see the Aurora.

This fuselage gives only two choices, either IL62 or VC10

The IL62 doesn't have 'that' tail!
