January 12, 201412 yr Folks, I'm curious what others consider essential add-ons for using the 777? Things like scenery, airports, flight planners, WX, etc... what's everyone using for the most immersive experience? January 12, 201412 yr I'll add to Oli's list with Flytampa Dubai. It seems like every long haul flight i go on bounces off Dubai. Nice to fly in real time, experience turbulence over the black sea and down the gulf, ah memories. Obviously when FS2Crew releases (after the SDK), i am sure that i'll be adding that. Ian R Tyldesley
January 13, 201412 yr PFPX. ActiveSky (Any version really, but Active Sky Next is the newest version). (Simulator in general) FS Water Configurator (FSWC - Free!) Vatsim. Cos who wants to fly without real live human ATC. Obviously addon scenery for where you are flying is a nice to have. And some global scenery texture corrector for that horrid FSX yellow grass. I got GEX Ground Environment Xtreme years and years ago. Orbx FTX Global does the same thing but maybe better (but as I already had GEX since 2008 odd, I'm not rushing out to buy FTXG) Trent Hopkinson, 2015 Crewmember of www.mangrove.com.au WorldFlight sim Youtube channel www.youtube.com/user/musicalaviator
January 14, 201412 yr My PMDG B777LR works great on the following >>> * FSDreamteam sceneries * Fly Tampa sceneries * Aerosoft sceneries * ORBX Airport sceneries * EZdok * OPUSfsx (i've demo ASN for seven days, liked OPUS better from visual standpoint. The new update made the apps more stable) * FTX Global (that's it, don't get fool of getting that vector and upcoming regional LC) * EFB * Flight Commander (PFPX will replace that... once i have the B777-300ER) * REX (whatever is the latest, easy on the HD texture selection, they all look the same HD or non-HD) Kin M. January 14, 201412 yr Why are there so many double and triple posts lately, like this one? Searching is tough enough and now this? Ric Elmore
January 14, 201412 yr Commercial Member Why are there so many double and triple posts lately, like this one? One part server issue (error messages not indicating that the post actually went through, and something else is in error). One part user confusion. One part user impatience. Five parts F5 key. Mix together. Bake at 320 degrees. Kyle Rodgers

January 16, 201412 yr I would say GEX UTX REX OPUSFSX FS Commander (don't care for PFPX, PMDG gave me all the functionality I need in the FMC) Imaginesim KATL V2 and Aerosoft EHAM (this weekends flight) Xaver Uzo
January 16, 201412 yr Is TopCat a must with PFPX? If not how are you all getting the TO and landing numbers? Chris Camp
January 16, 201412 yr Commercial Member Is TopCat a must with PFPX? No. I'd recommend it for flying with any of the aircraft TOPCAT has data for (the 777 is not currently one of them), but it's not a must have. If not how are you all getting the TO and landing numbers? Performance tables, if you have them, or there are a bunch of free tools out there. Kyle Rodgers
January 16, 201412 yr Can you elaborate on the Performance Tables or Free Tools? Having no luck in Google Searching the aforementioned. Thanks for the advice! Chris Camp
January 16, 201412 yr Commercial Member Can you elaborate on the Performance Tables Performance tables you're probably not going to find, legally, unless you fork out a decent amount of money, or have someone at an airline who has a copy from their manuals. There's a limited performance table in the FCOMs somewhere (I forget if it's 1 or 2, but they're in there). or Free Tools? Not sure how Google came up dry, because I just searched "777 takeoff performance calculator" and found this as the second result, linking back to an AVSIM post: http://www.simflight.com/2013/09/11/free-boeing-777-200lr-derate-calculator/ (here's the link back to AVSIM where the actual download link is: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/420238-derate-calculator-for-777-200lr-available/#entry2789967) In any case, that's the type of tool I was referencing. It's not the best (it's very rigid: Flap 15 TO only), but it works, and it's definitely better than nothing! Kyle Rodgers
