February 22, 201412 yr Maybe you folks already know this, but while I was do other testing I had the floating houses/building issue (apparently this problem has been around since the beginning of time). Anyway, my solution was to move the AutoGen building density slider back one notch, go back flying and buildings should now be back on the ground. You can go back to the AutoGen settings and move the slider back to your original position and the everything will still be good to go when you return to flying ... unless of course you like to fly obstacle courses then carry on "as is" Cheers, Rob. P.S. Sorry for duplicating this solution if it is a known fix. (P3DV2.1)
February 22, 201412 yr Mmmm....didn't know that. I will try it next time I see one. Thanks. Robert Yunque PilotEdge Ratings = CAT-11 (2016-09-13) I-11 (2016-10-23) V-3 (2016-08-01)
February 22, 201412 yr Use Shift S to change outside views. First press takes you to spot. Second takes you to nearest airport. Leave it there until you see the graphics start to load (a few seconds at least), then go back to cockpit. This will reload the terrain and the problem should go away. Has for me every time I've tried it. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

Has for me every time I've tried it. I only allow two cyclic views, spot and VC ... I avoid Nearest tower because it'll increase my VAS usage and not give it back. But it's good to know there is also another approach to fixing this problem ... thank you! Cheers, Rob.
February 23, 201412 yr I avoid Nearest tower because it'll increase my VAS usage and not give it back I've been wondering about that. I used to get crashes all the time, but I started cycling the views as described above every few minutes on the assumption that old memory would be flushed and renewed. I've had very few crashes since I started doing that. Maybe it's voodoo, but as long as it seems to work... The trick is to stay in nearest tower view until the terrain starts to update. When you go back to cockpit, terrain will be blurry and low res mesh. It quickly restores. If you try this, let me know what it does to VAS. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! July 2, 20178 yr Just discovered this thread today, flying with ORBX FTX Regions, and flying into some airports I notice some buildings floating above the ground. I tried Rob's suggestion of reducing autogen bldg density by one and immediately the buildings are in the proper place, and then going back to original density. I guess this is an Old P3d problem, but his solution works with 3.4 I am surprised that three years later, and this issue hasn't been fixed.
July 2, 20178 yr Moderator This problem has been around for a long time in FSX and P3D. Doing anything that will reload the terrain will fix the problem. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160

Vic and obviously, neither MS nor LM were able to fix it. Seems to be a real tough issue, buried deep in the system.
