I will not engage in argument with you. Won't bite.

That's the 2nd time you've said that ... hehehe ... is that the sound of a back pedal back pedal, escape, escape, where's the escape key!  Are you looking for the kinda of "diversity" that's really just a reflection of your opinion?

But seriously Jesse (or whomever you are), just enjoy your platform or platforms ... maybe you've seen a lot of P3D enthusiast - oh wait, better use acolytes - over in the FSX forum and felt the need to come over to the P3D forum and re-post the same opinion again.  To be honest I don't visit the FSX forum much any more so if you're seeing many P3D "acolytes" over there then perhaps address them specifically.

Cheers, Rob.

Did I get all the possible combinations -- do I need to include Flight and/or others?

No that'll do fine

On a more serious note Rob, you've pretty much become the P3D guy here at Avsim, being a beta tester and having a direct line to the developers. Why not write a P3D2 review for Avsim? You're certainly more than eloquent enough and very well versed in the programme. It might go a long way to filling the rather large hole in published reviews for P3D2 at the moment. I'm sure Avsim wouldn't turn you down if you offered to write a review.

Hey, a "little bit of makeup" can go a long way, see below, I'm not just saying this to be funny but I'm trying to make a point

Good point, but those pictures actually show lots of make-up and a good amount of hairstyling.  :P

I was afraid of that, hopefully other's disagree.

I'll write a review when it's bug free ... hehe.  But I think someone already has written a review?  Oh wait, I think that was PC Pilot Magazine?

If someone hasn't done it, I'll be happy to write a review for AVSIM when 2.3 comes out ... submit it to Tom or whomever reviews the reviews.  One thing I'll make sure to avoid in the review are comparisons ... let the product stand or fall on it's own merits not how it does something better or worse than another product.  But if comparisons is what people are looking for, then they'll probably hate my style of review.

Cheers, Rob.

I've written before that I think a lot of people are comparing a fresh install of P3D2.2 with hardly any addons, seeing how fast it runs compared to their two year old FSX installation creaking under its own weight of all sorts of addons and are coming to some skewed conclusions.

I've got ORBX, REX4 OPUS etc. in 2.2 and FSX and I get 10-30fps more in heavy detail areas such as Vancouver or San Fran with eye candy on. Tried, but can't go back to FSX.

Interesting, thanks for the info. I'm planning on putting much the same addons into my P3D2 over the weekend. Curious to see what the results will be.

Why does anyone care if XP10 users come over to the P3d forums and post their opinions? The good news is that this "visitation" piles up the post and thread counts in the P3d forums. At the rate at which posts and threads are accruing in the P3d forums, it will pass the XP10 forums some time late this year. Now as to FSX and P3d, I calculate it will be some time in 2025 ... :O

To be fair about this, post counts aren't entirely proportional to flight sim popularity or even popularity and age. XP10 in my opinion, is very trouble-free as flight sims go. That's attributable to a variety of factors, not the least of which is it wasn't based on FSX to start with. The paucity of problems cuts down on post counts, which is a good thing. But it also has far fewer add-ons than P3d or FSX, so the likelihood of an add-on or a combination of add-ons causing trouble is lessened. That's the basic trade-off when using XP10 vs. either P3d or FSX.

As to P3d vs. FSX, P3d is  less troublesome than FSX, but again you don't need to be a genius to figure out why that is true. FSX has basically been abandoned by MS for years now and it has only been kept alive through the hard work of a dedicated community of 3rd party developers. But P3d benefits from the work of most of those same developers. And the best part is that LM keeps improving the P3d core and makes those improvements based on feedback from the flight sim community.

But seriously Jesse (or whomever you are), just enjoy your platform or platforms ...

hahaha, you bet ya I won't argue with you. (now tjhis is the third time I've said it).  What you mean by: "whomver you are"? Are you trying to argue with me on whom am I? LoL

Hey, you never know... Keep trying I might switch by next week. But, here's the thing:  I hope when the time comes asking  questions you reply with the same eagerness to help..WILL YOU  ?  jeje

I'm honestly trying to make something out of that post, but I really can't...

That will depend how much makeup you have on.

Why does anyone care if Jessyboy gets P3D?  If you ask me, I would rather Jessyboy stay with FSX.  Seems to suit Jessyboys needs much better anyway.  PIMA

That's because the FSX forum isn't entirely FSX. It actually used to be the MSFS forum and as such has posts going waaaaay back. Some time after FSX was released and the split that emerged in the community, it was requested that FS9 and FSX discussion be seperated. FSX inherited the original forum and FS9 got a totally new one.

Nice to see we're keeping it friendly and good natured.

I would have really thought that these discussions would have been over by now. Any criticism of P3D v2.2 will be met by passionate attacks on the poster. Some people will try to be helpful, but others will denigrate the poster's honesty, intelligence, etc. It's the way it has been since the first day. It is pointless to continue it. You should make that a sticky: "No more posts with any criticisms of P3D v2.2. They just degenerate into name calling, no matter which side you are on."

LM is a very large company with major programs across the defense spectrum. The flight simulation business exists only because an argument has been made within LM that the commercial side of the business directly supports their military products. Their interest in this could evaporate overnight in the event that the R&D expense cannot be justified so I would take the attitude that we should take advantage of this while the opportunity exists, but I would not necessarily make long term plans and commitments based on LM's involvement.

You're kidding, no?  Whatever LM is spending on R&D for P3D is a DROP IN THE BUCKET in terms of their defense sales and support plans.

Building a viable training platform for air/sea/land (P3D) is more than a 'whim' - it is an objective.  I wouldn't expect them to abandon P3D for -any- foreseeable reason.

Im not real fond a of being a public beta tester for that platform either! Specially for a 66 billion dollar corporation. I'm  glad to help out the little guy Flight sim developers.
