KDEN is Out

Featured Replies

I like the demo for the most part. FPS are pretty rough on my "old" 2500k @ 4,2 GHz.... about 15 on takeoff roll in a complex glass plane. I guess that's almost average for payware airports. With PHX I get about 18-20. The 3d terrain is awesome... quite amazing how airports are not totally flat like we think they are with fsx default scenery.

Looks - yeah it looks incredible. I did see one default object, the fire station on the WNW side of the field... maybe it was an object conflict not sure.

VAS hit is excellent... as in doesn't do a lot of damage to the VAS - (FSX DX9 here).

I'll probably buy it so I can fly into Pilot Edge area.... maybe get KSBA too hehe

Why do people keep saying this.... BP is not a quality design.... it's hardly better than Jim vile's excellent freeware ADEX update. The people want HQ FSDT/FB/T2G/LVFR addons for their home airports. (KMSP is not my home but I did live near there at one point).

Anyway I checked the FB forums, KMSP is still on Mir's radar - thank goodness.

Who did KSBA?

Thanks! I guess I live under a rock as I've never heard of them! Lol

They were the guys who were set up as contractors for Orbx to do the UK regions and some airports.  That relationship has since ended and they're now doing airports independantly.

In my book having a BP version is not even in the same category as having a FB version of the airport.... People write this as if FB shouldn't spend the time on MSP because it's already "done" by BP. I don't want to be stuck with the BP version... Yuck

Not to mention the entire argument (But xyz airport already exists!) FAILS because FB did DEN knowing Imaginesim already had a version.

Ryan, you are reading way too much into these posts.

I would support any developer who makes a better version of any airport I fly to/from frequently.  I was simply arguing your assertion that the Blueprint KMSP was essentially no better than a freeware version was an unfair assessment.  No one here ever said they shouldn't make KMSP or any other airport that already exists.

And to stay on topic, the Flightbeam KDEN scenery looks excellent!  I have their KPHX scenery and would recommend it to anyone.  Coupled with BlueSkyScenery's AZ terrain textures and it's marvelous!

I bought KDEN and it is excellent!  FPS are still fairly low on my 2500k @ 4.2 Ghz....  not sure why when everyone else is reporting excellent fps.  This is with NO ai traffic and light clouds.  I get about 20 fps locked in default cessna on ground and 15 with addons.

Ryan, this may be a case of differing setups.  For Colorado, I use photoscenery (MSE v2), so I have NO autogen in the surrounding area.  This, I'm sure, gives me a bit of an edge in this area over those who are using, say, FTX Global or even default.

I wonder if they have a Pot store yet in the airport LOL

They did a nice job

(if I could add).........and still charging Orbx prices! KSBA is more expensive than Flightbeam's KDEN!

And some people say SBA is not up to par of say AVX (Catalina I).... Like the scenery looks cartoony... This was upsetting to me as I was going to purchase.

Why would FB be deterred if somebody else made a scenery that exists already? If they thought they could make money of creating an airport that is already out I bet they would. I have come across a few instances where there have been different options for the same airport.

Also first flight into KDEN was awesome. No FPS hit got about 29 on approach only dropped to maybe 22 on taxi but once parked right back up to around 31.

Can someone explain what "no need to purchase GSX" means in the manual?

I didn't think SBA looked brilliant on the screenshots ('cartoony' is a reasonable description) but even if it had looked brilliant, I would certainly be reluctant to pay that sort of price for a relatively minor airport when you see what is available to purchase for less! These guys (Sim720) would possibly sell a hell of a lot more if they dropped their prices significantly and probably make considerably more in profits from a larger volume of sales in the end.
