May 3, 201412 yr Yeah but SEA and PDX would be an OOM nightmare.... The majority of flyers in those areas probably run Orbx (fps and OOM nightmare in itself)... Adding a complex payware airport might be the perfect storm lol. I have Orbx PNW and already avoid SEA with complex addons. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 3, 201412 yr I'll be picking this up as soon as possible, even though I'm exclusively a GA flyer, as this is the only major non-military airport (as opposed to regional, reliever or purely GA fields) that I've ever landed at as PIC. The hint to the how and why is that it's not in my logbook as DEN ( or KDEN), which at the time I flew to DIA was still the designator for Stapleton International. In the fall of 1994 a few months before fully opening, Denver International invited GA pilots to a Sunday fly-in. The purpose was a combination of PR (the GA community wasn't always happy with some of the airspace changes), practice for the controllers and testing of communications equipment. And it was a lot of fun. Flew there in my Piper Turbo Arrow IV with my wife and youngest son, meeting other flying friends there. Traffic was substantial, and controllers had us landing to the south Oshkosh style, long and short. I got short ("on the numbers'), which left me with a VERY long taxi at this sprawling airport, taxiing behind a guy in a Pitts who did slow S-turns in front of me for what seemed like forever. Was directed by ground to taxi right to a gate on the "A" concourse (don't recall which one, I'll have to drag out the pictures and see) - a very strange feeling. We had the run of all the concourses, train and terminal and even had a few of the businesses open up for us. I've been looking forward to this ever since it was announced, and can't wait to duplicate that flight, though the airport has changed just a bit (especially with the still-under-construction light rail terminal modeled) and instead of the GXY-DVX-GXY flight I have logged, the sim flights will all reference DEN. May 4, 201412 yr should be a winner, look im my opinion the major developers for big time airports are: FS Dreamteam FlyTampa Latin VFR Flightbeam All of them are great and reliable developers. I see that FS Dreamteam and Flightbeam are mentioned as good developers. I always stay away from those two becuase I didn't know them. So are they realy good? The last few airports that I've buyed was an dissaster. FlayTampa I knwe I have all of there airports, Latin VFR I'm also sold, but the last two remaining developers are unknown by me. Please help me out Buy or don't
May 4, 201412 yr KDEN is my "home airport", so I will certainly be getting this. Scott, I never participated in the fly-in to "DIA" but can recall the event. Due to time constraints of my day-job, I ended up flying at night many times with my CFII during training fir my IR. I would typically be under the hood to 200' in the ILS at KBJC or KFNL, and saw some of the MALSR approach lighting which I loved. One night my CFII suggested we just go have some fun, he called Denver TRACON then filed KBJC to KDEN, and he had pre-arranged a landing on 35R (which has "ALSF-2" lighting), and took me off the hood at 3,000 feet to thresh-hold so that I could see the entire light show on approach. What an experience.... one that I will never forget. We just did a touch-and-go- my only experience landing there.... Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.

They create great airports plus add some scenery around the airports. Gives the airport 'context', I think...so it doesn't feel so much like an airport in the middle of nowhere. FlightBeam is close but doesn't generally include as much around the airport, though, I do like their KIAD a lot. There's a possibility I'll pick this up but 1) I don't have much reason to fly to Denver and 2) I don't have any decent scenery around there yet. May 4, 201412 yr KDEN has completely raised the bar. Detail is spectacular and performance is fantastic. The blue bronco is modeled and the red eyes even light up at night. Freaky. May 4, 201412 yr I got better frame rates than the Imaginesim version and without the shimmering mess. Formerly Coneman - 900+ ___________________________________________________________ If one ignores the lack of undercarriage, it's actually quite a nice landing.
May 4, 201412 yr Performance for me is excellent. Sadly my first flight into KDEN resulted in a CTD after landing. Hoping it's coincidental. - Aaron
May 4, 201412 yr Sportsfan23, on 03 May 2014 - 2:53 PM, said: Blueprint simulations made a KMSP. Why do people keep saying this.... Because that's a factual statement. LOL. BP is not a quality design.... it's hardly better than Jim vile's excellent freeware ADEX update. I don't want to knock this thread off topic, but just gotta say that's an unfair statement. The Blueprint scenery renders KMSP as it should look today with a level of completeness and accuracy not found in any freeware scenery that I've seen. I believe most of the negativity of the Blueprint scenery is really based on the plain vanilla building textures and lack of custom textured taxiways, aprons and runways. They are not made by texture artists and don't appeal to eye-candy junkies. However, the 3D models are complete and accurate, unlike the horribly out-of-scale models in the default scenery that persist in freeware updates. They also add decent seasonally adjusted terrain textures to the airfield and surrounding area. I think their scenery is fairly priced accordingly. Chris Lundberg
May 4, 201412 yr In my book having a BP version is not even in the same category as having a FB version of the airport.... People write this as if FB shouldn't spend the time on MSP because it's already "done" by BP. I don't want to be stuck with the BP version... Yuck Not to mention the entire argument (But xyz airport already exists!) FAILS because FB did DEN knowing Imaginesim already had a version. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 4, 201412 yr My first flight last night in the B60 Duke, KDEN-KCNY. This is my first Flightbeam airport and I'm very impressed. Performance is surprisingly good given the level of detail. As has been discussed, KDEN is a sprawling airport, and even though it is out on the plains ENE of downtown Denver, it is definitely not completely flat. I'm really impressed as to how well Flightbeam has been able to model this terrain within the airport boundaries. You get used to seeing things within airport boundaries be completely flat in FSX, or at best having a few dips. Here, you've got hills, gullies - the works. Aside from my previously mentioned flight into DIA in my own plane, this being my "home" airliner airport, I know this area well on the ground and in the air, and this, in conjunction with the MSE v2 photo scenery I use in Colorado, really captures the area for me - at least this time of year. Yep, VERY impressed so far and a very happy first-time Flightbeam customer. Scott
May 4, 201412 yr Agreed the terrain modeling is stellar! Really makes you feel you're at the airport. I loaded up on 35L and couldn't see off my right because of the mound hehe. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
